Yes, the scales section of ?xyplot mentions a rot argument. Here is
an example:
df <- expand.grid(1:2, 1992:2002)
names(df) <- c("MSA", "YEAR")
df$IDUPREV <- runif(22)
library(lattice)
xyplot(IDUPREV ~ YEAR | MSA, data = df, scales=list(x=list(rot=45)))
