R help - Apr 2004 - Question on outer(x, y, FUN,...)

Dear R gurus,
 
When I used outer(x, y, FUN, ...), I got error message when there was matrix
multiplications with x or y in FUN. FUN worked fine when x and y were applied to
it in FUN(x, y, ...). Is this a bug for outer( )?

Your function is probably not vectorized.  See the R FAQ question 
  7.19.
