I cannot seem to get compiled help working with XP in neither 1.6 or 1.61. The ReadMe.rw1061 specifies: (ii) Compiled HTML files. Set this as the default by options(chmhelp=TRUE) or for individual help items by help(topic, chmhelp=TRUE). Full text search is available from the Search tab. According to Microsoft, to make use of this you will need to have IE3 or later installed and a recent version of Windows or (not Windows XP or 2000 or ME) use the updater hhupd.exe at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/htmlhelp/html/hwMicrosoftHTMLHelpDownloads.asp So is there a fix anyway ? What happens if you do options(chmhelp = TRUE) ?plot ??? If the compiled HTML doesn't start, your WinXP installation certainly is broken. What *exactly* does not work for you and it what way? It should work on XP, and it does on all our XP machines. You did install the CHTML files? There is something a little strange: when I compile it the chm files have an index tab which seems to be missing when Duncan Murdoch does. I was wondering why the .CHM files were smaller in 1.6.1 than they were in 1.6.0. Somehow I must have dropped the indices. I'll track this down...
