I've been using R for several months now, in fact it was my intro to "real" computer programming. It used to frustrate me no end, but lately I've noticed my reaction has changed. Nowadays its much more like "wow, is that cool, or what?". So I guess I've gotten over the hump of the learning curve. Comparing what I now do with R to my previous hodge-podge of spreadsheets and supporting programs leaves me open-mouthed at the improvement it has wrought. To all of you who have contributed to this R project, thank you so much. What you have created is far from being merely useful; it is a thing of true beauty, a delight to work with. graham lawrence -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !) Hi all, I am still on my learning curve, but I would like to agree Graham in every point! Thanks a lot for this great software. That's great. To some extent the learning curve is unavoidable, but are there particular things you wish someone had told you early on, or particular kinds of documentation that you would have found really useful? What kinds of documentation did you read and find most useful? (Intro to R, MASS, on-line help, r-help list ...) The stage you are at is really important; you've learned to use R and to see things from its point of view, but (maybe) you haven't yet forgotten all of the details of what it looked like when it was brand-new to you. I would like to agree with both, Graham and Hausmann.
