R help - Aug 2002 - curve fitting

Hi,
I have a simple set of two columns data (x,y) and I would like to find 
the equation which provides the best fit using R (without any 
preconceived idea about any polynomial or exponential or whatever 
function).
Any help please?

     library(modreg)
     help(smooth.spline)
