Hi, this is just a quick question about the list, not about R. I'm trying to filter r-help questions into a separate inbox folder in Outlook Express, but I'm having trouble. All my other filters for lists seem to work except for this one. I've tried just about every email address that it seems the messages come from (starting with r-help). Any suggestions? It's just a matter of convenience in sorting out messages. It's just a matter of convenience in sorting out messages.Maybe you should ask on an outlook express mailing list, whatever that is? procmail catches all R related mails by this recipe, but I have no idea if this will help you with your mail(?) program. # r-help :0: * (^TOr-help at lists.r-project.org|r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch|\ ^Sender: owner-r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch) | $FORMAIL -A"X-Sorted: r-help" >>$MAILDIR/r-help Christian -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !) You might try emails starting with "owner-r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch" without quotes. I filter on this email address without any problems. Note the "owner-" bit, from your email this is perhaps where you are going wrong. It's just a matter of convenience in sorting out messages. The `Sender:' header is the easiest way to do this. R-help messages have a header line Sender: owner-r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch I don't know how to test for this in Outlook, but it shouldn't be too hard. The obvious solution, checking for the help list address in To: or Cc: doesn't work easily because there are too many aliases. It turns out that checking for the string r-help in To: and Cc: works pretty well. I use this approach to work with the crippled mail filtering system that UW provides. -thomas -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
