Hello, I've downloaded the package "mass" and I've tried to install it, but it didn't work. Can you help me (I use Windows)? Katrin -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/attachments/20020707/e560f42b/attachment.html
The MASS package is part of the VR bundle, so you can't download it individually. Did you download a *source* package through the web or did you use the "Packages" menu in the Windows R? -roger _______________________________ UCLA Department of Statistics rpeng at stat.ucla.edu http://www.stat.ucla.edu/~rpeng On Sun, 7 Jul 2002, Katrin81R at aol.com wrote:> Hello, > I've downloaded the package "mass" and I've tried to install it, but it > didn't work. Katrin, did you use the "update from CRAN" option in the Windows GUI version? It is my experience this option does not always succeed in installing the downloaded package. Indeed, when I try to update VR this way, I get an error message concerning MASS.DLL, and the whole process (including other scheduled packages) stops. Maybe this happens when you loaded the MASS library. However, when this happens to me, I can still open the package (which is still in Windows\temp) using WinZIP, WinRAR or other, and manuall extract the contents into the right folder. Have you tried that? RXO ----------- Pray how did you install it?>library(mass) >data(hills) >hillsshould show you the scottish hills races.!!!
