R help - Mar 2002 - Strange behaviour of strptime

Hello,

can anybopdy explain me this?
> strptime('02 03',format= '%y %m' )
[1] "2002-02-28"
> strptime('02 03 04',format= '%y %m %d' )
[1] "2002-03-04"


shouldn't the first example return "2002-03-01"?

No, and this is covered in the help file (at least in 1.4.1).
