These are some boot/rescue systems with ext3 support.
The RIP boot/rescue system.
This is a boot/rescue system, it comes in three versions.
There's a bootable cd version that comes with kernel 2.4.6
and has IDE and SCSI support.
rip-39.iso.bin 2528kb
They can all be found here:

There's more info at the above site.
This is the floppy version.
Title: RamFloppy
Version: 1.06
Entered-date: 06JUL2001
Description: Small ram linux system for the purpose of system booting
or repairing, a boot/rescue system.
You can put this system on a 1.44mb dos formatted floppy
or cdrom disk, and or boot it from your dos/win9x system.
You can also probably put it on a 1.44mb floppy in
a LS-120 drive and boot it.
It's more or less designed for non-networked stand-alone
home pc hard drive boot/rescue/backup!
It has large file support, you can use the programs
dd, mke2fs, mkdosfs, mkreiserfs, split, mount, tar,
gzip, and bzip2 for files larger than 2GB!
You can only have files larger than 2GB on a ext2/3 or
reiserfs partition.
It includes the fat16/32, ext2/3, and reiserfs partition
resizing programs 'parted, resize_reiserfs'.
It also includes the 'mc' file manager!
It has support for these filesystems.
ext2 <Linux filesystem, read-write>
ext3 <Linux filesystem, read-write>
iso9660 <Cdrom filesystem + joliet extensions,
read-only>
msdos <Dos filesystem, read-write>
ntfs <Windows NT filesystem, read-only>
reiserfs <Linux filesystem, read-write>
ufs <FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, & Sun/Solaris
filesystems, read-write>
vfat <Win9x filesystem fat16 and 32, read-write>
The kernel is version 2.4.6, it just has support
for IDE hard drives.
You need at least 8mb of RAM and a 486dx CPU to boot it.
It's a rar archive you can extract it like this.
C:\ ramf-106.exe
# unrar x -cl ramf-106.exe "Using unrar or rar under
linux!"
zdisk-2.03.tar.gz at the site below has a similar
rescue system, except with zdisk you supply the
kernel, it then creates a boot/rescue floppy or
cdrom disk with the kernel of your choice.

And there's this version.
Title: Zdisk
Version: 2.03
Entered-date: 06JUL2001
Description: The purpose of 'zdisk' is to put a kernel of your
choice and a rescue system on one 1.44mb or 1.722mb
floppy or cdrom disk, creating a boot/rescue disk.
The kernel can't be more than 1110kb in size on the
floppy version, the cdrom version can be much larger.
You can create a bootable cd linux system of any size.
Ramf-106.exe at the site below has a similar rescue
system, except it comes with the mc file manager
and a IDE kernel, it fits on a 1.44mb floppy or
cdrom disk. Read ramf-106.lsm for more info!
The programs mke2fs, mkreiserfs, gzip, bzip2, tar,
split, and busybox all, have large file support, if
you use a kernel with LFS support you can use them
for files larger than 2GB on a ext2/3 or reiserfs
partition. The 2.4 kernels have LFS support.
