Bob, Definitely not where you went. You got $0.31 because you set your calculator to round to 2 decimal places, therefore, what you actually did was: 930 * 0.02 / 60 = $0.31 Whereas, in our industry, we need to compute rates with far more decimal places than just 2. - Waldo On Jul 28, 2005, at 10:31 AM, Adam Dobrin wrote:> Bob Goddard wrote: > > >> On Thursday 28 Jul 2005 13:07, Ronald Wiplinger wrote: >> >> >>> before I accuse somebody to "overbill" I would like you to calculate >>> with me: >>> >>> Rate: 0.0189 for calling Taiwan via NuFone >>> >>> Duration: 930 seconds >>> >>> Lets vote for the answers: 0.7269 or 0.2929 ??? >>> >>> >> >> Assuming it is per minute; >> >> 930 * 0.0189 / 60 = 0.29295 >> >> >> B >> >> > I get .31$. And where did you get your rate? The 11/2004 rates from nufone show: Taiwan 886 0.0469 Taiwan - Mobile/Special Services 886 60 0.1006 Taiwan - Mobile/Special Services 886 70 0.1006 Taiwan - Mobile/Special Services 886 9 0.1006 Taiwan - Taipei 886 2 0.0469 0.0469 * 15.5 = 0.72695 Your multiplication skills are great, now if you only had the right numbers.> -----Original Message----- > From: Ronald Wiplinger [mailto:ronald@elmit.com] > Sent: Thursday, July 28, 2005 10:48 AM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Can you caculate with me? > > > >On Thursday 28 Jul 2005 13:07, Ronald Wiplinger wrote: > > > > > >>before I accuse somebody to "overbill" I would like you to > calculate > >>with me: > >> > >>Rate: 0.0189 for calling Taiwan via NuFone > >> > >>Duration: 930 seconds > >> > >>Lets vote for the answers: 0.7269 or 0.2929 ??? > >> > >> > > > >Assuming it is per minute; > > > >930 * 0.0189 / 60 = 0.29295 > > > > > Thanks for your help. > NuFone invoiced for me 0.7269 !!!! > > Asking for an answer from them, ... While I haven't done the math, be aware that your billing formula may not be a simple as x per minute and therefore x/60 per second. Many carriers bill in rounded increments of 6 seconds or more...the calculation is not simple 1, 2, 3 arithmetic. Yeah. Lets try, Round(Ceiling(930/60) * .0189). Are there providers that charge by the second? And just to clarify, your entire bill here was under a dollar, right? -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Bob Goddard Sent: Thursday, July 28, 2005 12:01 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Can you caculate with me?
