I'm looking to use Asterisk with Verizon ISDN centex service in the US. I'd be connecting to an NT1 so I'd need an S/T interface. Users would have SIP phones registered with Asterisk and sharing the ISDN lines. The only PCI ISDN card that will support ISDN signalling in the US seems to be the Eicon Diva Server cards. These are hard to find and very expensive ($2500 for the Quad card). Its unclear to me looking at all the posts if anyone has successfully used a cheaper PCI card in the US. Does anyone have this working and where did you get the card? thanks, Brian G.

The few cards that are available only have firmware for Euro-ISDN, not NI-2 (and US BRI is _not_ the same as anywhere else in the world). There are other options, though: Adtran (and others) make boxes that can cross-convert multiple BRIs into a PRI, which could then be connected to Asterisk via a T-1 card. Not an inexpensive way to go, though.
Next week I have an isdn coming in, if it happens, odd area. I am going to try an EICON Diva Pro PCI, I'll make a post when I get it running. Though without Centrex at this point. Brian, I bought a diva pro pci 3.0 on ebay. Turned out since it's a semiactive card it will not work, but got a terminator too. So I am still looking for a Diva PCI or Diva server pci without spending a bundle. Just got the line in today, Verizon took about 3 months to do it, and needed to install repeaters. Brian, I am looking into the diva isdn cards for around 200 at this point. I had the semiactive but it did not work, though it is S/T so I may be able to use it on my windows server for faxing and share the lines with the diva. When you say expensive what do you mean?? It should be around $54/month for 2 channels. As for time, yes, takes a while, but you need to have a good rep to talk to. For testing, I just connected an isdn modem to the pbx, which is connected to a zaptel. Sounds good, but limited features. Is the adtran a lot? It's a modem right, I know I got a 3com/usr for like $20+ship on fleabay. I'll keep you up to date as I go on... I've given up on the PCI BRI card, as the only one that I've heard will work is the Eicon Diva Server card and they are too expensive. I can use an Adtran Express 3000 to go from BRI to POTs in a pinch and connect the POTs line to a Digium card until Verizon gets around to installing the BRI at the new location. Hello Brian, I received my Eicon Diva 2.02 card, pci passive. I am trying to get it running. So far I can use minicom to see a ring/cid, but cannot answer I had asterisk going where it would attempt pickup, but the os messages said : Apr 26 18:14:01 localhost kernel: isdn_tty: call from 9145829110, -> RING on ttyI0 Apr 26 18:14:01 localhost kernel: isdn: HiSax,ch0 cause: E0260 Apr 26 18:14:29 localhost kernel: isdn_net: call from 9145829110 -> 0 2781980 ignored Apr 26 18:14:29 localhost kernel: isdn_tty: call from 9145829110 -> 2781980 ignored Anyone know of this 'ignored' issue? Seems like the kernel has control over it, or I am missing something obvious. I have tried going on minicom and setting the number, although I see no mention of SPID's anyplace... As per my isdn modem, I can use a usrobotics but there is no hangup detection... I would prefer to go direct... Hello Brian, I had no success with either an eicon pro pci, or regular pci. I am a bit skeptical about using eicon on linux, as there seems to be no support for 5ess natively. I am looking into a Multitech mvp410-st, which is a sip gateway with s/t and multitech says it should work... Maybe... How does the adtran handle disconnect detection? I am using a usr modem right now with voice ports, but it seems to be an issue...
