Is this a problem with linux or the motherboard, or a problem with the cards? I have successfully loaded four pci cards into a single machine numerous times in the past six years. Most occasions for a multi legged firewall, so all of these were network interface cards (even did a four quad card setup once). [Asterisk-Users] more then two wildcards in one machine
>Is this a problem with Digium cards specifically?I had IRQ issues when I tried to use three TDM400 cards and a TE410 card. This was in a new Dell server about 3 months ago. I finally broke down and bought a PowerPc off ebay for $700 no IRQ problems on MACS. Thanks man, Finally some reassuring news. Can someone from Digium respond to this issue. Is there some sort of hardware requirement to allow installing four wildcards in one pc? Or having four PCI slots is enough?> -----Original Message----- > From: Derek Conniffe [mailto:derek@rivertower.ie] > Sent: Thursday, December 09, 2004 12:55 AM > To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' > Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] more then two wildcards in one machine > > For my local test asterisk server I'm using an old HP Netserver E800(only> one processor running as I had trouble with running two) - I have 7PCI> cards (3 X x100p, 1 X ISDN, 1 X SCSI, 2 X NIC). [Asterisk-Users] more then two wildcards in one machine

One way to easily avoid it is to go with the PowerPC architecture, as many have suggested. I have also noticed that multi-processor motherboards have a boat-load of IRQ lines, also. If you want to stick with the "intel architecture", you can go that route, too. -- -M There are 10 kinds of people in this world: Those who can count in binary and those who cannot.
