[Asterisk-Users] Multiple MD 3200 (Intel 537) cards on a single system.
Has anyone been able to sucessfully use 2-4 X101P clones with Asterisk on a single system ? I'm using one Encore MD 3200 modem sucessfully, alongside a TDM400P (3 FXS, 1 FXO) and would like to be able to use up to 4 X101P on a single system. In most cases I'll have 2 or 3 instead. I understand all the issues with interrupt sharing and PC motherboard quality. Just need to know if any one was sucessfull with that. I would love to use a TDM400P, but in order to import one, here in Brasil we're hit with 150% total import taxes for this kind of equipment (getting the final price to over US$ 700), while we can purchase Encore modems at US$ 15 after all taxes, so it's kind of hard to use digium cards here. It worked fine. Also I had it with an ASRock mobo and Athlon processor, it worked, but not so great. I had allways one card sharing an interrupt. There were sometimes artifacts in the sound, faxes did not work, and data calls: forget it. I'm running four now on a Powermac 9600, I'm planning to add another one in the next few days. It works perfect. I can fax, I can make modem calls. Life is good. -- Nicol?s Gudi?o Buenos Aires - Argentina

Asterisk and Zaptel works perfectly on those with LinuxPPC, for example Yellow Dog Linux. There are no interrupt issues on Macs. The pre-G3 PowerMac 9xxx series all have PCI bus and some of them have a PCI based VGA in a sixth slot, so you could remove that and run six X10nP in a single machine. The PM 9xxx series are vintage 1996-1998, they're too old to support MacOSX and therefore they are available second hand at real bargain prices. The going price at a typical second hand store here in Tokyo is 50 USD with 90 days warranty for such a machine. In some other places you may pay as much as 200 USD - still a bargain. rgds benjk -- Sunrise Telephone Systems, 9F Shibuya Daikyo Bldg., 1-13-5 Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. NB: Spam filters in place.
