It's that time again. I'm stuck with a bunch of older Powermac G4's that I either need to repurpose or give the heave ho. I've not tried CentOS on Mac hardware before. Would the following config be suitable for a (somewhat slow) workstation? PowerMac G4 400mhz 256mb RAM 40gig ATA disk Some sort of dual-head ATI video setup with 64mb VRAM (I'v...

I am running asterisk on an old PowerComputing Mac clone running YellowDog 3.0 (Red Hat clone for PowerMacs) I've decided to try adding a generic winmodem card and compile zaptel-0.9.1 for it. First I tried to just unpack zaptel archive and do make clean; make install. Compiled fine, but during insallation I got the "unresolved symbols" error messages from depmod -a I did some rese...

OSX 10.5 PowerPC and hang after "Looking for __cxa_throw in stdc++"
Sorry to have to ask... I'm catching too much noise from dumps. I'm building LLVM 7.0 using release tarballs on OS X 10.5 PowerPC. I'm building out-of-tree mostly following https://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html#getting-started-quickly-a-summary . Cmake gets this far and hangs: -- Looking for pthread_create in pthread -- Looking for pthread_create in pthread - found -- Looking

X100P fails to initialize
So I took a chance with an X100P knock-off on eBay. I'm running Asterisk + FreePBX on a PowerMac G3 (beige desktop) using Slackintosh 10.2 and kernel 2.6.16.16. Everything has been fine up until now. I compile the 1.2.5 Zaptel drivers without a problem, get the udev configuration in, modprobe zaptel, and finally modprobe wcfxo. At this point, I get the message: ZT_CHANCONFIG failed on channel...

MC-Simulation with foreach: Some cores finish early
Dear R-Users, I run a MC-Simulation using the the packages "foreach" and "doMC" on a PowerMac with 24 cores. There are roughly a hundred parametersets and I parallelized the program in a way, that each core computes one of these parametersets completely. The problem ist, that some parametersets take a lot longer to compute than others. After a while there are only a quarter of the cores st...

Multiple MD 3200 (Intel 537) cards on a single system.
Has anyone been able to sucessfully use 2-4 X101P clones with Asterisk on a single system ? I'm using one Encore MD 3200 modem sucessfully, alongside a TDM400P (3 FXS, 1 FXO) and would like to be able to use up to 4 X101P on a single system. In most cases I'll have 2 or 3 instead. I understand all the issues with interrupt sharing and PC motherboard quality. Just need to know if any

Xserve, USB, NUT
Hi - I have NUT running very nicely on a serial port on one of my OpenBSD servers, and using hidups on a RHEL4 box. Now I'd like to run it on two Macs, a PowerMac and an XServe G4. What is the USB port I need to configure, and do I need the newhidups driver? Thanks in advance for the help! Ted
