[Asterisk-Users] Where to purchase ISDN (BRI) cards in Australia (preferably)
Hello all, I was wondering if anybody knows where one might obtain a PCI ISDN card supporting a single BRI for use with Asterisk in Australia (and using something like chan_capi). Because of the Isdn4Linux DTMF issue, I don't want one of those cards. I've already spent too much time messing about with my current card. I'm after something like the AVM Fritz! cards. I found one place that sells them, but when comparing to the prices they're available for overseas the pricing seemed a bit high. Other than that - if anybody has any recommendations for reasonably priced cards, I'm open to suggestions. If it's not possible - does anybody have any recommendations for retailers overseas? Some searching has found retailers in Germany with the information in German, but as I've only just started learning German I wouldn't be too comfortable constructing a query/etc. Thanks, Shaun

Shaun With chan_capi your only real choice is the fritz or an eicon diva server. If you thought the fritz was expensive then close your eyes for the diva. I think the 2 channel BRI card is about $1500 here. You might want to try ebay. You can pickup a fritz for less than 20 Euros I'm sure. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of Shaun Ewing Sent: Friday, August 20, 2004 2:21 PM To: Asterisk Mailing List Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Where to purchase ISDN (BRI) cards in Australia (preferably) Hello all, I was wondering if anybody knows where one might obtain a PCI ISDN card supporting a single BRI for use with Asterisk in Australia (and using something like chan_capi). Yes, they are more expensive, but $10k fine plus 3months in prison is probably less appealing....> Other than that - if anybody has any recommendations for reasonably > priced cards, I'm open to suggestions. > > If it's not possible - does anybody have any recommendations for > retailers overseas? Of course, you probably will never have a problem, but if you are re-selling this to someone else, you have even bigger fines. If this is for personal use, well, it is up to you. Regards, Adam

Hello Shaun, The AVM cards bought in Australia are Atick certified, hence the extra cost (although the card is identical to overseas models). Hence the extra cost. If you don't care about certification, I personally would try and get HFC-s cards off ebay. They are very cheap and should work better then capi especially when it comes to echo. It also gives you timing through zaptel. Problem is the card costs less then the shipping :( Regards, Matthew Enger menger@xi.com.au On Fri, 2004-08-20 at 14:21, Shaun Ewing wrote:> Hello all, > > I was wondering if anybody knows where one might obtain a PCI ISDN > card supporting a single BRI for use with Asterisk in Australia (and > using something like chan_capi). > > Because of the Isdn4Linux DTMF issue, I don't want one of those cards. > I've already spent too much time messing about with my current card. > > I'm after something like the AVM Fritz! cards. Hey Shaun,> Because of the Isdn4Linux DTMF issue, I don't want one of those cards. > I've already spent too much time messing about with my current card.I have a Traverse NetJet card which I got working without any problems at all. I'm pretty sure all I had to do in order to get DTMF working all I had to do was set my SIP client to use rfc2833 signalling. I'm not at home at the moment, but I can check that when I get home tonight. The only thing I have not been able to get working is SpanDSP for receiving incoming faxes. On another note, if anyone has any NetJet cards they don't want, I'll be happy to take them :) Cheers Darryl -- Darryl Ross Senior Network Engineer OEG Australia Email: darryl@oeg.com.au Phone: 08 81228363 Office: 08 81226361 If you want to live up to the whole "There is more than one way to do it" slogan, you have to give someone a swiss army chainsaw ...

Get an HFC-PCI card instead That leaves all the stuff to Zaptel, and the card costs you ?50 or less On 20. aug. 2004, at 06.21, Shaun Ewing wrote:> Hello all, > > I was wondering if anybody knows where one might obtain a PCI ISDN > card supporting a single BRI for use with Asterisk in Australia (and > using something like chan_capi). > > Because of the Isdn4Linux DTMF issue, I don't want one of those cards. > I've already spent too much time messing about with my current card. > > I'm after something like the AVM Fritz! cards.
