Restructuring data
Hi folks, I am new to the list and relatively new to R. I am trying to unstack data "arraywise" and could not find a convenient solution yet. I tried to find a solution for the problem on help archives. I also tried to use the reshape command in R and the reshape package but could not get result. I will illustrate the case below, but the real dataset is quite large so that I would

accessing members from a data frame
I have a data frame with the following columns: Date Price Buy Sell The Buy and Sell variables are binary. They are either zero or 1. Additionally, they are mutually exclusive. Either Buy is 1, Sell is 1 or they are both 0. But they are never both 1 for a given observation. I want to see observations for either either Buy == 1 or Sell ==1 (but not the ones where Buy == 0 and Sell ==0). How can

Selling Wine compatibility to Windows software vendors.
We have recently started promoting the Ubuntu OS and have converted all of our offices to Ubuntu. We have closely been monitoring the development of Wine. It has progressed very nicely and is the ONLY reason we were able to fully convert all of our computers to linux. We even sell gaming PCs with World of Warcraft thanks to Wine. We were just wondering if the developers of Wine ever considered

the problem of buying and selling
...tion and was never wrong. I am disinclined to once again ask this question, since it is more arithmatic than technical. But, having worked 2 days on it, I realized my brain is just not juicy enough.... Here is the problem. Trust not for freedom to the Franks--- They have a king who buys and sells. - Lord Byron: The Isles of Greece Suppose the French King commands you to buy and sell, and tells you only to deal if the profit is higher than 2%. Question: how much quantity will be dealt, and what is the actual profit? In fact, the King wants to see the relationship between his minimum-p...

Rails Powers #1 Selling Album Site
Just a heads up that the new record label site for Vagrant Records runs on Rails and PostgreSQL. Right now it is FCGI based but we''re moving to Apache+Mongrel next week. It is looking like they are going to have the #1 selling album in the country this week with Dashboard Confessional''s new record. Just a note to let people know that Rails has penetrated Billboard!

bandwidth.com will not sell me a sip line since the address is in Citrus Heights CA
I called bandwidth.com to buy a sip line from them for $30 a month. But they said they will not sell me a sip line since the address on the account is Citrus Heights CA and they can not provide services in that area. On asking further the person clarified that there is no e911 service available in the 916 area code for bandwidth.com But other providers like www.broadvoice.com are able to provide

Special ruby language for describing sql conditions
I was brainstorming today about a smooth way to define conditions in an sql query, when the numbers of attributes increase, so does the uglyness. So instead of passing a hash, I thought you could specify the conditions directly in code. I hacked together some example code which actually turned out to work. The result is concise and pretty beutiful. def search(params) Ad.find(:all) do

OT: DSL without voice
A lot of people are going for the "VOIP only" approach, but SBC says you have to have an active analog voice circuit before they will sell you DSL. Does anybody know which DSL providers will sell you DSL without making you pay for a voice circuit? Thanks in advance, ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Steve Edwards sedwards@sedwards.com

How to protect your code? Obfuscater?
I just made a rails application that I plan to sell and dsitribute. I want to distribute it without having to worry about someone stealing the code and selling their own version. How do I do this? Is there a ruby obfuscator or anything that can keep someone from seeing the code? Thanks for your help. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Yet another ''how to sell Rails'' (performance related) question -
Hi all, I have already evangelized my management to use Rails instead of a Java framework for a newly starting projects - they are OK with Ruby, Rails, seems i won the ''will it scale?'' round too, however there is one final round: performance. These guys are really hooked on numbers. (I know, i know, i have been reading DHH''s thoughts on this topic (in short: who

Selling asterisk-based solutions
I'm curious as to folks experiences in selling asterisk-based solutions. In sales-speak, what are the common "compelling reasons to buy"? I can think of the following potential ones, but I'm keen to find out what seems to work in practise: - Customer wants to cut cost of calls, implements * and signs up to a VoIP/PSTN gateway - Customer wants a new PBX but doesn't want to
