Hi, Have posted to this list a couple of times and have always received great responses and help. I have a basic * system setup Using 3 X100P cards with 6 Snom200 IP phones. It was a bit of a struggle getting everything up and running but have been pretty happy with the flexibility and ease of *. My major problem is one that has been discussed on this list many times before. The echo from the X100P cards is completely irritating to my users. I have tweaked the system as much as I can, IE: switching tip and ring, using aggressive suppressor, tweaking the TX/RX settings. There is still echo in the first 0-8 seconds of the call while the echo cancellation is catching up. I understand the problem is that you do not hear this echo in analog systems even though it is present and it is only heard in the digital system because it is not as fast as analog. So here is my problem. Our CEO wants me to get rid of the system unless I can provide a solution that will expand and work just as good as an analog replacement PBX. He came to me with this decision after trying to use the Snom200 speaker phone for a conference call, not a good idea as we all know the speaker on this phone is not a conference phone replacement. He also was frustrated when he tried to patch a call that came to another extension, which transferred fine, but was disconnected when the receiving party made a switch on their PBX to another extension and it was dropped. Currently we have 4 POTS lines and I have 1 setup for DSL and the other 3 hooked into the X100P cards, 2 outgoing and 2 incoming, using the DSL as incoming rollover. We are planning on expanding our business pretty rapidly and he wants a system that will be easy to setup and scale. I know asterisk and VOIP phones are great for this but the little glitches in the phones, hardware wise, are not supporting my Asterisk decision. I would like to upgrade to a channel bank, and was wondering if anyone has had any echo issues with other digium hardware. I know that the X100P issue comes from not having ECAN DSP in the card. I was also wondering if anyone had any luck adding a conference phone such as the Polycom Soundstation Conference Phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated Ryan R. Ryan, I have a setup similar to yours; 3 x X100p, Snom 200s, etc. I haven't been too upset about the echo, although I haven't been able to eliminate that issue either. I don't really have any answer for you, but it raises a question I'd like to pose to the list. Are standalone FXO gateways like the Mediatrix substancially better than the X100p solution? They cost more, but might be worth it. Michael --Original Message Text--- From: Ryan R. It might end up costing a little more, but I would strongly suggest looking into the T100P/Channelbank combination instead of the X100P cards...especially for business class service. I too had the same issues w/ the X100P, although I have not experienced problems w/ the latest CVS. I still will install/sell only T100P cards and channelbanks to businesses, especially if they will use VOIP at their location. I believe the extra dollars you spend on the equipment will more than make up for the time you will spend on troubleshooting problems related to echos. >I would like to upgrade to a channel bank, and was wondering if anyone hashad any echo issues with other >digium hardware. the t100 connected to a channel bank will not gurantee no echo, but from experience I do have 2 solutions that removed 100% of the echo from my installations 1) CAC ADIT 600 channel bank, 8 port FXO cards with what CAC call adaptive impedance matching I had both a x100 and a t100 and an adtran ta-750 that both produce echo connect to my local PSTN when i tried the ADIT 600 with 8 port FXO connect to my analog line ALL perceived echo vanished, I still had the echo can settings in zaptel turned on 2) Install an Inline T1 hardware echo can between the T100 card and the channel bank T1 interface I took that same adtran ta-750 that gave echo on the analog lines and installed a TellLabs 2572 64ms hardware echo card, turned off all zaptel echo settings, and All perceived echo vanished My personal belief is that the hit and mis echo on the x100/x101 cards is caused by the impedance mismatch between these cards and different Telco lines, the zaptel stuff tries to fix this echo after the fact & the current algorithms will not converge in a sub-second time frame
I have an opportunity to purchase a used ADIT 600 Channel Bank with 3 FXS Cards. What would be a fair price for this equipment? on the 5 to 8 secs of echo if your using on your zapata.conf echotraining=yes you should get rid of this echo problem Miguel On Tue, 2004-01-06 at 19:15, Ryan R.
