I've asked this question in the IRC Channel, and have had no happiness yet :-( I have incoming lines hooked to asterisk using X100P's. Unfortunately, when we cal forward our lines using the phone company, the line still rings about a half of a time. This is enough to get * to start 'simple switch' and after my 2 second wait, answer the line. Unfortunately, * doesn't see the hang-up, and it loops until absolute time out. This can be quite a problem since the office is pretty busy, and we end up with * being constantly busy. This makes is so that we can't UN-FORWARD the line. What I need to do is have * not answer the call unless the line rings TWICE. I've tried a wait before answer, but all that does is wait x seconds after the first ring. * ends up picking up the line and getting dial-tone. Not good. Is there any way to get * to NOT ANSWER a call if it only rings once? Thanks for any recommendations. Ben -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have a very similar issue - if I am not using caller id, can I have asterisk pickup a zaptel channel immediately ? Ben's problem is exactly the same as my ALIT test problem, if it took two full rings for asterisk to answer it would not have ever been a problem for me. His issue is not from a ringing detect glitch so the solution has to be different, but asterisk should not be committed to answer after detecting only a bit of ringing. See my post about Zhone bug I think it was called from last week - I was chucking up this same problem to a Zhone bug but there's no mention of a Zhone in this thread. HOWEVER I do have Centrex lines from Verizon (Maryland) and most definitely the lines DO ring about 1/2 a ring when forwarded. Getting T1 based lines seems to be the answer; but if you don't need 10+ lines it doesn't seem to make financial sense.
