[OT] Centrex Question
I haven't dealt with Centrex for a long time, and one of my customers is
being courted heavily by a Sprint salesperson.
Am I not correct in assuming that each "line" of Centrex corresponds to
an "extension" in the PBX world?
This site has 2 POTS lines and 5 extensions, and they told me that for
the sam...

mobile centrex solution
anyone know of a solution where mobile handsets out roaming the pstn
cellular network can be used and treated as full fleged centrex
extentions, i.e. I can transfer a call that comes in on a wired
centrex copper pair out to a cell phone and the cell phone can
transfer the call back or vice versa where the cell phone recieves the
call directly and can transfer to the office all without hairpinning
the call? essentially when the...

Flash(), Centrex Lines, and 3 way calling
Greetings, List.
I have my Asterisk box setup with 8 Centrex lines that were "left over"
from our old PBX system. My boss is asking me to set up Asterisk so
that he can flash hook and make an outgoing call on the same line to
have a 3 way call.
This is what he wants to do:
1) Incoming call on his Centrex line
2) Flash hook and dial a new numb...

Asterisk in a Centrex environment?
Does anyone know what would be involved in making
Asterisk work as a voicemail system in a Centrex
environment? We have a Centrigram voicemail system
that belongs in the Smithsonian. There are analog
lines coming into the box and a 56KB data feed from
the phone company's switch.

PBX Functionality How-to
Hello,
I had a partner of mine present a Centrex 21 brochure and ask how many of
those features can I fulfill. There is nothing out of the ordinary, it's
stuff like call hold, call forward, 3-way calling, etc. Has anyone
assembled a how-to that shows how to configure PBX or Centrex type
functionality? I found one in the voip-info wiki but...

Asterisk behind Centrex
Hi,
I'm looking at setting up an Asterisk PBX in our office, which gets its
phone lines (digital signaling, analog voice) from the main campus,
which uses Centrex.
Does anyone know if this falls under analog or digital for hardware
buying? I was looking at getting a Digium TDM-series, but apparently our
lines aren't pots (due to the digital signaling).
Could someone enlighten me a bit?
Thanks a bunch.

Re: Some simple voicemail questions...
...busy, the customer will get a busy signal and will have no
chance to leave a message...
My question is this -- Is there any way around this problem other than
ordering more POTS line that would, most of the time, sit idle and be used
only to take voicemail?
If it helps at all, we have Centrex service on our lines here... Is
there a way for * to somehow hook into the telco's voicemail system using
Centrex?
Any thoughts would be appreciated... It will be hard for me to use *
here if we lose part of our voicemail capabilities... It would also be a
hard sell to buy extra lines...

Help please
Hi,
My PBX/key system failed when building power was switched off and then
back on. The service rep says the PBX unit is so old that it is not
repairable.
The unit has 8 incoming POTS lines and 12 multiline sets. There are
voice mailboxes on each line.
Switching to Qwest's Centrex system would cost about $3800/yr. My 8
business lines now cost $3320/yr, so the Centrex increment would be
about $480/yr.
Purchasing a new PBX would run anywhere from $4K to $9K.
My questions are: should I be considering Asterisk? What type of
telephone set could I use with Asterisk? Would...

Conference bridging, etc., etc.
I would like to find a way to identify multi-location companies who would
benefit from IP trunking - perhaps by industry segment. ie what type of
company is likely to have multiiple locations with lots of interoffice
communications.
Also, I would love to target Centrex customers. I put in an Asterisk
system for a local company that had been on Centrex. In short, it will save
them $18,000.00 per year (and did pretty well for myself too:)). Any way to
ID centrex customers?
I'd be glad to share any tips ideas etc. as well if there is any interest.

Asterisk support for NEON or Centrex/CLASS/VMWI MW formats ?
...nt.htm
-------------- next part --------------
Hello
I have Scitec 5S-c Analog Phone connected to Asterisk PBX. This phone has Message Waiting Indicator but I don't see it lighted whenever any voice mail comes.
From phone documentation I came to know that this phone is compatible with NEON or Centrex/CLASS/VMWI message waiting formats. Could anyone please tell me if Asterisk PBX support these formats too. Do I need to do some configuration at * end to make use of MWI faeature.
My voicemail folder is /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default/610/INBOX

tdm2400p question
Hi all,
I'm confused, in digium website, it says:
TDM2400P: It supports a combination of up to 6 FXS and/or FXO modules for a
total of 24 lines.
6 plus 6 is 12, how come it's 24?
if I have 24 PSTN lines, i'll be needing 24 FXOs.
Pls. elaborate.
thanks.

New Asterisk Implementation
Hello,
I've been planning to replace my aging CENTREX switch with a new PBX and am seriously
considering Asterisk as my solution.
I work at a college, and we currently support just under 300 regular analog lines to
the offices and whatnot.
I was wondering.. Is asterisk ready for such a job? Would I be making a mistake
to deploy this across the...

wxLayoutContraints.h
The file swig/classes/includes/wxLayoutConstraints.h may need to be
updated. It''s missing centreX and centreY from the list of
wxIndividualLayoutConstraints.
I''d send a patch in but I''m wondering if this file just needs to be
regenerated from scratch.

...alidator. Something to dig into this weekend I suppose.
Another thing I''m a bit unclear on is the whole (directors="1"). I''ll
investigate that this weekend, too.
Finally, one last little problem. It appears the C->ruby renamer isn''t
handling names like centreX properly. centreX should be converted to
centre_x as I understand it. The un_camelcase function in renamer.rb
apparenly only uncamelcases if the first characters are uppercase.
Thoughts?

What technology could my phone company be using?
I live in New Brunswick Canada. The phone company is Aliant. When
you set up business service here, you can go with either analog or
digital lines. This isn't a T1 or ISDN. They are talking individual
lines direct to handsets that they provide. They offer the digital
option with even very small ( 2 - 4) number of lines.
What technology could this be? Is there any way to connect such a

Two Rings
I've asked this question in the IRC Channel, and have had no happiness
yet :-(
I have incoming lines hooked to asterisk using X100P's. Unfortunately,
when we cal forward our lines using the phone company, the line still
rings about a half of a time. This is enough to get * to start 'simple
switch' and after my 2 second wait, answer the line. Unfortunately, *
doesn't see the

DID trunks -- equipment requirement
...a month ago and got a
thoughtful resonse from Steven Critchfield, but I've got a quick follow
up question to it.
I'm looking to setup a 16 extension / 10-14 phone line Asterisk install
for a customer who would like to have DID numbers for the extensions,
since they're currently on Centrex and already have the 1-to-1
correspondence. Since I'm in a less populated area of the country, SBC
doesn't seem to have much in the way of fractional T1 products (on the
scale that we need them) available, so I think my only option for DID is
to use (analog) DID trunks for incoming cal...

Request for best practices
We are trying to implement "area-code dialing" in our asterisk PBX.
Basically: we will have a number of customers, who may be in different area
codes, that want to direct-dial each other's extensions. We want this to
work like a "real" centrex, in that seven-digit numbers should try (1)
"local" VoIP extensions, and then (2) "local" PSTN numbers. Ten-digit
numbers should dial (1) "long-distance" VoIP extensions, and then (2)
"long-distance" PSTN numbers.
Here's my plan so far, does anyone ha...

Consultant / integrator needed
...the time to really figure it out, nor to
deliver a solution in a fixed time.
I need someone who can help me spec the hardware and configure * for a
small office pbx. At the minimum I need really solid ACD functionality
set up. We'll need to use a channel bank to terminate our current
incoming centrex lines in the short term, although I'm open to
recommendations as to how to better integrate with SBC. In the future
I'd like to integrate outbound and possibly inbound VOIP as well.
If you've got the time to and expertise to do some consulting, please
contact me. We're in the south...
