Is there a way to get Music-on-Hold to use the Line input of the soundcard instead of playing MP3s? Some potential clients like the music-on-hold to be the local radio station, or from a satellite broadcast. Thanks!

Check out sourceforge for details on how to do this. You can run this on the same server as Asterisk. JT

But how would the Music-On-Hold configuration go?
For now, it sounds like I need to look over Shoutcast Thanks all. -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Butler [mailto:rbutler@adiis.net] Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2003 1:59 PM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Music-on-Hold radio input? If you were going to use shoutcast or similar you would need a kick ass processor to be encoding and then decoding the live stream while at the same time handling all the call switching..> On Thu, 2003-04-17 at 12:04, DUSTIN WILDES wrote: > > Is there a way to get Music-on-Hold to use the Line input of the soundcard instead of playing MP3s? > > Some potential clients like the music-on-hold to be the local radio station, or from a satellite broadcast. > > > > Thanks! > > > > Either a new music on hold app that can read from the sound card, or > using something like shoutcast/liveice to encode an audio stream from > line in into an mp3 and then use the current music on hold to read the > mp3 stream. > > Ryan Butler > > > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users-- ______________________________________________ http://www.linuxmail.org/ Now with e-mail forwarding for only US$5.95/yr Powered by Outblaze
Quite it's common to do what you describe, be carfull it is technically not legal to re-broadcast the radio programming without paying royalies. Sometime this is even enforced. While it's unlikely that anyone would take leagal action against you, some clients may know about the law and not look favorably on someone who violates it. So take it as a bussiness decision. There are subscription radio services specially for the purpose of providing leagally re-broadcastable programming It you are in the recording bussiness using the loacal radio would be a huge mistake. If you run a wholesale plumbing supply company I doubt your clients will care. --- DUSTIN WILDES <dwildes@pabbankshares.com> wrote:> Is there a way to get Music-on-Hold to use the Line input of the > soundcard instead of playing MP3s? > Some potential clients like the music-on-hold to be the local radio > station, or from a satellite broadcast. > > Thanks! > > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users====Chris Albertson Home: 310-376-1029 chrisalbertson90278@yahoo.com Cell: 310-990-7550 Office: 310-336-5189 Christopher.J.Albertson@aero.org KG6OMK __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
