IAX2 trunk mode over satellite
Today has been the day for satellite questions, apparently, so I'll
proxy one out to the rest of the community... I asked this
tangentially a month or two ago, but I'll put it in a more blunt way:
If you have IAX2 trunking mode experience over satellite, please let
us know your experiences with that protocol/transport com...

Satellite Providers
Hi All,
I am investigating the deployment of VoIP/* in Eastern European areas where
there is no PSTN infrastructure. As you can understand DSL/Cable connections
are a dream. The only option is satellite.
Does anyone know of any satellite providers that have low enough/acceptable
delays for VoIP?
Thanks,
Yiannis.

VoIP over satellite internet
Could those on the list who have used or tried to use VoIP over a
satellite internet connection comment on how well it works or if it
even works at all in a reliable way. What is the effect of latency on
the VoIP path and how much is generally tolerable? routing via
satellite adds about a quarter second of latency to the path. Is that
too much?

Asterisk with iax2 over satellite
Hi guys,
I'm in the process of setting up an Asterisk server over a satellite
connection to allow people on a remote island to place and receive calls
over the pstn.
What are the ideal settings I should use in iax.conf for the optimal
operation over satellite besides the normal options for the type=friend
peer?
Does anyone have this working? I an place calls as things are n...

dynamic menus in dialplan
I have an application that needs to vary the menu choices available based
upon the availability of an external resource at a given time. What I have
in mind is a system that can uplink a user to one of many different
satellites. Due to the nature of orbital mechanics a satellite may be out
of range at any given time. I only want to present a menu of available
satellites. I can query an external program for a list of available
satellites, but how can I use that list to present menu options for
selection? What's th...

Satellite 6
Hi Everyone,
Since Satellite 6 is an amalgam of other F/OSS projects and is no longer
solely based on Spacewalk, is a new upstream project for Satellite 6
going to be created? BEtter yet, is a new upstream project already
available?

Experiences with RHN Satellite?
This is slightly off topic, and may just be tossing red meat to y''all,
but here goes:
My boss has RedHat coming in on Tuesday to give a spiel on RHN
Satellite. I''m dubious, as it seems mostly like a web UI wrapped
around a Yum repository system and a half-baked configuration
management system. I''m of the opinion that our time and money would
be better spent getting off of RHN for package distribution, setting
up our own Yum repositori...

two routes, non-permanent higher proiority
Hi LARTC experts,
Can you help me with this scenario? I have been
lurking on this list for a while, but I am very green
wrt advanced routing.
I have a slackware linux based server in a vehicle with
a high bandwidth satellite connection which is only
available while the vehicle is stationary.
This satellite connection comes in via eth0. But while
the vehicle is moving or stationary, we can use a
CDMA modem via a ppp0 connection coming in on
a serial port, but it is much lower bandwidth.
The vehicle operator should...

Asterisk IAX over VSAT satellite.
Hi all,
For some reason VSAT or Satellite Internet services are not mentioned
(or searchable) in this list's archives. I thought I'd let you know
that I tested Asterisk using IAX (not IAX2) to make a phone call from
an analog phone hooked up to an Asterisk system behind a Linksys router
connected to a Gilat VSAT satmodem, and i...

Load Balancing/NAT
...39;m trying to set up a Gentoo box to replace an aging BSD box here.
The BSD box is running packet filter and I have it set up to take all
data and route it to one of six sattelites. I have come up with the
following config, but unfortunately I have no real way to test it short
of switching the satellites over to the new system and prayer.
The setup is:
192.168.252/22 - The LAN addresses, all run by DHCP on the Cisco BBSM
which is behind the load balancer. Cannot change these.
10.10.1.1 - The Internal Interface, Gentoo box''s IP to the BBSM. I can
change this if needed.
10.10.1.2 - The BB...

Katello is just one piece. Satellite 6 also integrates Candlepin, Puppet
and more. What I'm wondering is if the entire set of software -
Satellite 6 as one piece - is going to get a new upstream project.

htaccess htpasswd and satellite connections
Yeah, maybe this is a bit on the edge....
I am discovering several issues with users on satellite internet
connections not being able to authenticate via a htaccess/htpasswd
system. Some users cannot connect at all, some can connect reliably..
and some are hit and miss.. works one day and not the next. Yet those
same users can log in fine if they switch back to their dialup system.
Has any...
