W2K3 Domain - Can't Connect to Share?
I have a linux box, Samba 3.0.23a, that is joined to a W2K3 domain. I cannot connect to the "MP3s" share (all legal!) on this system - I can connect to home directories and printers. When I try to connect to MP3s as any user on the domain, I get an Access is denied message, or it prompts me for the username and password again. I am using Winbind (if that matters), so none of these accoun...

ices and VBR mp3s?
I posted a while back about having trouble with ices 0.2.2 being able to re-encode VBR mp3s, and the response was that ices 0.2.2 did not reencode VBR mp3s. Are there any plans to include such support in future ices versions? If so, any ideas as to when such versions would become available? Thanks, -- "Shall life renew these bodies of a truth? Playing MP3s...
For no reason other than it would be cool, I'd like to be able to dial an extension and have it play a random MP3. Since, however, MP3s are kinda-sorta weird due to patents, I'm not sure what the right approach for this is. Any pointers on how to go about this? Thanks! -Ken

streaming MP3s?
Ok, icecast is up and running, but only ogg-files. Any way to stream MP3s? I got my whole CD-Collection as MP3s and am just to lazy to convert the whole stuff. <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containi...

Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)
Hi! I would really appreciate if someone could try to help me out with this... i've been struggling with it for quite a while now. :( Anyway, I was trying to use ices to broadcast mp3s with icecast2 (a recent cvs snapshot of all 3 components from brendan's site). I have it working fine for some of my mp3s (encoded with lame -b 32) but with the other mp3s which are actually the ones that I wanted to broadcast, it doesn't work. Basically, what happens is, with XMMS, it kee...

Problems with gain
Hello. I have a problem here with replay gain. I use it to be able to hear all my music without any difference in volume. But it seems that all players I use ignore the gain value stored in my flac files. All flacs are louder than the gained mp3s I have. $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <some>.flac REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN=-9.96 dB $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN <some>.flac REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN=-9.96 dB The flacs are always louder played as the mp3s and this happens with all players I have: mplayer, amaro...

I figured I'd just make a partition vfat and have both linux and windows export that directory... but under linux there seems to be an odd issue w/ creating a file larger than 800K on the samba share. ices problem with some mp3s -- update
Hi everyone! I just did some tests, and hopefully this information will help someone figure out where the problem lies. I made mp3s at 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, and 96 kbps. Each of those was done at 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, and 48 khz. Everything worked for 22.5, 24, 44.2, and 48 khz. 16 khz and 32 khz did not work at 40, 48, 56, 80, and 96 kbps, but did work just fine at 32 kbps and 64 kbps. I also tried streaming with oddc...

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
You "should" be able to use mp3s with ices. But not with ices2-2.x. You have to grab ices-0.2.3 from the snapshots. The earlier versions of ices-0.2.3 containted mp3-support but were not capable of streaming to an icecast2-server (only icecast). The current builds support both features. But from testing myself and from the li...

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
I have mp3s as input and can't convert them all. And since my listeners will ONLY use mp3-streaming I don't want the overhead and quality-loss of converting mp3 to ogg and later stream-transcode them from ogg back to mp3. That's not worth it. So why can't support for mp3 be added to ices2?...

Re-2: streaming MP3s?
I'm using icecast-2.0-alpha-2 and ices-2.0-Beta2. When I put the .mp3 file in my webroot and start laying it via winamp/location/<filename>.mp3 it works fine, just when I try using the playlist via ices I get a 404. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [icecast] streaming MP3s? MP3s in /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 causes Asterisk crash
Hi All, I have just compiled the newest version of mpg123 on a RedHat 9.0 system (mpg321 has not been installed) and I am using the newest CVS version of asterisk. Whenever I place any mp3 files in the /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/ directory, Asterisk crashes a horrible fiery death. If mp3s exist in that directory, then I can't even start Asterisk. If I start it without files then copy them over, then it crashes. If I use the mp3player() app then it crashes. Using mpg123 -t filename.mp3 seems to be fine. If you have any idea's on things I can test for, it'd be great...
