samba client improperly shows the wrong files in directories
...lem between a mount samba directory. Any clues why this is happening? I have two servers. The samba server is a Western Digital World Edition II (2) server. The samba client (server) is running Ubuntu-kernel linux-2.6.24-22-generic The samba server is exporting the directory: /shares/internal/Music/ The client is mounting the exported directory to /mnt/mybook-music Now here is the issue. Samba Client Drive Mount: On the samba client side I see that the same files 2241 files that appear in /mnt/mybook (or on the samba server side /shares/internal/Music) also appear in /mnt/mybook-music/Mado...

Royalty for On Hold Music ?
Hi, Is there any Royalty one needs to pay when using the inbuilt exisimg asterisk on hold music or when using any other mp3 from a music album. I think we need to pay for the later, but I am not sure if we need to pay for the inbuilt asterisk(freepbx) on hold music. -- Deepak --------------------------------- Yahoo! My Boss wants background music!!!!
Dear Members, I am searching for a new PBX for the company. My choice is Astrisk. My Boss wants background music via all the telephones. This is done in a conventional PBX that he wants, but I can use the Asterisk PBX if it can do this also. As I said he needs background music on every telephone this is not to be mistaken with music on hold. The bit stream is an MP3 file of 8 Kbs. At the server it might be...

HardPhone PlanetVIP-150T - Starts music on Hold and i can't get the call again
Hi all, I've a Planet VIP-150T VoIP Hardphone connected to Asterisk. When I'm in a call and i press Hold button, the other party starts listening Music on Hold but then when i press the button again to get the call back it doesn't work! I've checked asterisk CLI: -- Stopped music on hold on Zap/1-1 -- Started music on hold, class 'default', on Zap/1-1 -- Stopped music on hold on Zap/1-1 -- Started music on hold, c...

.../backup/machine/share It works like a charm, except for some excludes that won't work -- rsync still copies the files. Here's my exclude file: [~/bin]% ls rsync.exclude -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 154 Mar 1 09:34 rsync.exclude [~/bin]% cat rsync.exclude /mnt/pc/machine/D/Music System Volume Information/ RECYCLER ffastun* Program Files/ Temporary Internet Files/ msdownld.tmp/ It's the first line that doesn't work. Local music on hold -- mohinterpret=passthrough assymetrical ?
...tilization vs. remote G.729 while minimizing transcoding -- a bit of dial plan tweaking via the setting of SIP_CODEC variable seems to do the trick. But I digress... (with patch in issue 4825 things would be much nicer!) Now I'm still trying to improve bandwith usage with "local music on hold"; that is, when sip user A1, registered to server A puts sip caller B1, registered to server B, caller B1 gets server B's music on hold -- this removes the need of streaming audio from server A to server B while B1 is on hold, which in my scenario is a good thing. I po...

music complexity
hi, Is it true the flac encoder can compress music better when the complexity of the music is low? I'm compressing some tunes of old MS DOS games (pc speaker, sound blaster 16 OPL3 chip music) and I saw a *huge* compression ratio (some files where only 1/3th of the original file in filesize after compressing to flac), so I was wondering if less...

Music-on-Hold radio input?
Is there a way to get Music-on-Hold to use the Line input of the soundcard instead of playing MP3s? Some potential clients like the music-on-hold to be the local radio station, or from a satellite broadcast. Thanks!

No music on hold?
Hi all, I've got Asterisk 1.2.10 up and running on Debian using the back ports. I noticed that it didn't come with mpg123 or depend on it and I believe I read somewhere that asterisk now handles it's own mp3 playback? Is this true? If so I must have a problem, because I hear no music when putting someone on hold. When looking at the console when putting someone on hold, I see the following: -- Started music on hold, class 'default', on channel 'IAX2/voicepulse01-3' -- Stopped music on hold on IAX2/voicepulse01-3 It says music starts and then it...

Streaming ogg from filepointer pointing to archive of many oggs. Ogg stream does not stop after end of one ogg file - what to do ?
...ello, I'm currently trying to implement streaming off ogg-files out of an archive file using SDL and SDL_mixer for playback. Therefore i create a FILE * filepointer, place it to the beginning of an ogg file inside the archive and hand over the filepointer to ov_open. ( command: ov_open(fp, &music->vf, NULL, 0) ). This works fine so far. The problem is: if i put many oggs together in one archive, the playback stops only after the last ogg file. Why is this a problem ? Suppose i want to play the ogg files in random order. The playback must end after the current ogg, so the user can select...

Music on Hold Quality
Does anyone know how to maximize music on hold quality on calls inbound from PSTN? I know that it is common to have choppy and static sounding music on hold when connecting via PSTN but how can that be minimized? I assume that the bitrates, type of music, etc can minimize the effects. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Do...
