[Xen-users] Connecting separate VMs to separate displays [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
UNCLASSIFIED Hi, We currently have a test network that is simulating a corporate network, that we are using to do our research. It consists of 7 PCs, with 5 VMs spread between them. What we are looking at doing is Virtualising them. What would need to do is have 4 of these VMs connected to individuals displays as we need a GUI to interact with the VMs to do our research. It seems to me that Virtualising is best for running servers that people interact with over the network (eg HTTP, Database, RDP etc etc), I''m not sure if what we would like to do is even possible. I have done a lot of Googling but haven''t found much to help me. Can anyone tell me is what I am proposing is possible (eg connect different VMs to different displays)? Thanks, Martin. Martin, Your users could use VNC or RDP to connect to the VMs. I''m assuming they have PCs on their desks. RE: [Xen-users] Connecting separate VMs to separate displays [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
UNCLASSIFIED Hi Peter, We need the displays directly connected to the Xen VM Server as we are trying to consolidate our network and completely replace our test network with a single box that will virtualise the entire network. So what we want to do is have 4 monitors connected to the Xen Server. Our test network is entirely for research purposes, so there won''t actually be any real users. Thanks for your quick response, Regards, Martin.>-----Original Message----- >From: Peter Booth [mailto:peter_booth@mac.com] >Sent: Thursday, 17 September 2009 10:00 AM >To: Lucas, Martin >Cc: xen-users@lists.xensource.com >Subject: Re: [Xen-users] Connecting separate VMs to separate displays >[SEC=UNCLASSIFIED] > >Martin, > >Your users could use VNC or RDP to connect to the VMs. I''m assuming >they have PCs on their desks. > >Sent from my iPhone > >On Sep 16, 2009, at 8:24 PM, "Lucas, Martin" ><Martin.Lucas@dsto.defence.gov.au> wrote: > > > > UNCLASSIFIED > > Hi, > > > We currently have a test network that is simulating a corporate >network, that we are using to do our research. Use pciback.hide to hide them from the host kernel. Not sure what you''d do about keyboards and mice though. -- Simon Hobson Visit http://www.magpiesnestpublishing.co.uk/ for books by acclaimed author Gladys Hobson.
