Hallo *! I have a board SE7501HG2. - On 2.6.18 ipmitool works succefull. On Xen-3.1 (2.6.18) ipmitool say: # ipmitool sensor WARNING: Unknown SDR repository version 0x00 SDR record id 0x0000: invalid length 0 (see thread [ipmitool-devel] Unknown SDR version) - On page [4] as written: ipmitool -> BMC ---> i2c/smbus ''-> SDR - On Thread [9] was written: Workaround: disable buggy IPMI/BMC on NetXtreme II The problem is: i have not NetXtreme, but "Intel(R) PRO/1000" Is it always still the cause for this problem? - a previous tests result: ipmi must be running on node 254. But this is connect to gntdev: # cat /proc/devices | egrep "ipmi|254" 251 ipmidev 254 gntdev - gntdev seen match to CONFIG_XEN_GRANT_DEV What can i do? Xen version 3.1.0 (root@hrz.mydomain.de) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)) Fri Nov 30 13:20:15 CET 2007 # ipmitool -V ipmitool version 1.8.8 # lsmod | grep ipmi ipmi_si 33740 0 ipmi_devintf 7816 0 ipmi_msghandler 31680 2 ipmi_si,ipmi_devintf # ls /proc/bus input pci usb # lspci | grep SMB 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801CA/CAM SMBus Controller (rev 02) [4] http://it-dep-fio-ds.web.cern.ch/it-dep-fio-ds/Presentations/2004/ipmi_serve r_management.ppt PP Intelligent Platform Management Interface [9] http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-11/msg00465.html [Xen-users] Re: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5708 bnx2 bridging - workaround: dis. Hi,>- a previous tests result: ipmi must be running on node 254. > But this is connect to gntdev: > > # cat /proc/devices | egrep "ipmi|254" > 251 ipmidev > 254 gntdev >ipmi driver don''t specify the device number. So ipmidev''s number is not always 254. if you want to know the number, you can see by using "ls -l /dev/ipmi0''. FYI, I can use ''ipmitool sensor'' with ipmitool-1.6.0+RHEL5.1. He, i found it necessary to add the ipmi kernel modules to the initrd, anyway, i was always able to modprobe them by hand without any problems. greetings Stephan Akio Takebe schrieb:> Hi, > >> - a previous tests result: ipmi must be running on node 254. >> But this is connect to gntdev: >> >> # cat /proc/devices | egrep "ipmi|254" >> 251 ipmidev >> 254 gntdev >> > ipmi driver don''t specify the device number. > So ipmidev''s number is not always 254. > if you want to know the number, you can see by using "ls -l /dev/ipmi0''. > > FYI, I can use ''ipmitool sensor'' with ipmitool-1.6.0+RHEL5.1. > > Best Regards, > > Akio Takebe > > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users-- Stephan Seitz Senior System Administrator *netz-haut* e.K. multimediale kommunikation zweierweg 22 97074 würzburg fon: +49 931 2876247 fax: +49 931 2876248 web: www.netz-haut.de <http://www.netz-haut.de/> registriergericht: amtsgericht würzburg, hra 5054 _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
