I was wondering if there was any news on the patches proposed by Ed Plese last year regarding updates for shadow copies to be better compatible with Solaris ZFS: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2007-February/051510.html Reviewing the release notes for the upcoming 3.2 release: http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/pre/WHATSNEW-3-2-0pre2.txt I don't see any mention of changes to shadow copy support. I'm tentatively planning to use the binary module Ed supplied (http://www.edplese.com/samba-with-zfs.html) but would prefer not to deploy a configuration providing functionality that wouldn't eventually be incorporated into mainline Samba. I finished this up tonight and sent it off to the developer that had previously reviewed the patches. There's a new shadow_copy2 module in Samba 3.2 that has much of the functionality of the enhancements I'd been working on for the existing shadow copy module. Ed Plese
