I have been wrestling with this for quite some time. I have Samba 3.0.9-1.3E.3 installed on a RH ES 3 server running the 2.4.21-32.ELsmp kernel. I have a Xerox Workcentre 32C, Workcentre 65, HP Laser Jet 5si, HP LJ 8000, LJ 4250dtn. All of the printers work fine from the local machine. In other words, I can print to any of the printers from the RH server. However, when using Samba to share the printers I have had some issues. First of all, The HP LJ 8000 does not work with the PostScript Driver. The printer will work fine with PS from windows directly, but when printing through samba the job just dissappears. I don't get any error messages at all. The PCL driver works for manually adding the driver as well as using the Point N Print feature. I'd like to use the postscript driver, but the PCL seems to work fine so I'm not too concerned with that. However the Xerox printers do not want to play nice with Samba at all. When I add the printer without point n print, they work fine. Under the Properties in windows XP the port shows up as \\server\printerqueue Now if I reconfigure Samba to use PNP and I click connect and let the driver install automatically, the port shows up as Samba Printer Port. When I try to print from here I get no errors but the print job dissappears. I may be wrong, but it seems that there is some problem translating the Samba Printer Port to the actual printer queue. I don't know how everything is implemented so this is just a guess. I can post any config files you like. I know this is a lot of info and if you would like to tackle this one printer at a time, I'm ok with that. The highest priority for me is to be able to get the 2 Xerox WorkCentres working with Point N Print driver installation. I have tried many options found through google with no luck. I'd be happy to offer any info you need including screenshots of the printer properties if that will help!! Thanks. Mike

You are using raw printing right? cheers, jerry -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDIIO6IR7qMdg1EfYRApbIAJ465eLxHQMaffNuaE4SDosVqXtt0ACgtfHt dAsMjBZunhdLlcuhAUkNNNE=mqOc -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
