You need to run winbind.
The easiest way is to install Mandrake 8.2, which has it mostly working
out the box.
For the configuration you need to do, see
http://ranger.dnslias.com/mandrake/muo/connect/csamba5.html#winbind
(basically, do the following as root:
1. # urpmi samba-winbind samba
2. edit your /etc/smb.conf and uncomment the winbind-related stuff
3. # smbpasswd -j <domain> -U <domain admin user>
4. # service winbind start
5. # serivce smb start
if you want to authenticate all services by winbind, do this also:
6. # cp /etc/pam.d/system-auth-winbind /etc/pam.d/system-auth
)
(There is also one at
http://mandrakeuser.org/connect/csamba5.html#winbind, but it may be a
bit out-of-date).
FYI, Mandrake 9.0 will support setting this up during installation (only
with network installs AFAIK).
