samba - May 2002 - 3 OS/2 Server, 120 user, we waited to avoid W*-Server, is now the time? How?

das Subject sagt schon fast alles.

Zum besseren Verst?ndnis der Hintergrund.
nachdem ich vor vielen jahren Pathworks-Server durch ein OS/2-Serversystem 
abgel?st habe,haben wir es auch noch geschafft, die n?chste 
Evolutionsstufe bis jetzt herauszuziehen.
Wir nutzen File- und Printservices. Das ist alles. Die Anzahl der User 
tendiert gegen 150. Wir sind an zwei Standorten, aber ?ber VPN vernetzt.


Die urspr?ngliche eigentliche Wunschvorstellung war diese: 
NAS mit Userauthentifizierung ?ber LDAP (wir haben ein zentrales 
LDAP-Verzeichnis, welches von Lotus/Domino (auf LINUX ;-)) bereitgestellt 
wird). Leider gibt es das im Moment (noch) nicht, die Authentification 
geht immer gegen Windows oder UNIX-Accounts.
Die Clienten sind W2K prof, und teilweise noch 98er oder MEer (ich k?nnte 
aber das Thema W2k forcieren, wenn es einfacher wird).

Da wir auch gerne PRINT-Services nutzen w?rden, ben?tigen wir schon Samba.

Aber was ist jetzt der richtige Weg und liefert die aktuelle 2.2.4 alles, 
was ich daf?r brauche?
Sollte ich einen automatischen Abgleich zw. LINUX-usern und Samba-usern 
nehmen und 
SAMBA mit LDAP-Authentifizierung?

you will have to modify the ldap schema on the lotusdomino server to
support all the ldap attribute samba needs.
there is an schema for openldap 2.0.x. unfortunatly i have no idea how
the ldap part in domino works.

if you would have all the users out of ldap you would also have to
import the nis.schema (to support the posixaccount and shadowaccount
attribut)

then the domino server can work as "nis" server for the linux
server's

but take care, the linux box make many (many, many) ldap connect then.

the samba server should then be able to read the samba issues also from
the domino server and supports then a nt4 domain.

modify the ldapschema from the domino and compile samba with ldapsupport
(and hope that the ldapparts work together :(
