Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default A CLs and create mask being ignored.
Sorry, that should be RedHat 7.0. (Not that it should matter.) -----Original Message----- Client is Windows NT 4.0 SP6a and Adobe Photoshop 5.0. Server is RedHat 7.1, kernel 2.4.7 plus ACL 0.7.13. Samba 2.2.2.

That's not really satisfactory; I really need the files to be created with the proper ACLs (following the default ACL of the folder.) This works for every other application; I'm a bit puzzled as to what Photoshop could be doing differently. -----Original Message----- From: "tech at mathco dot com" <tech@mathco.com> To: "David Brodbeck" <DavidB@mail.interclean.com>; <samba@samba.org> Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2001 6:40 PM Subject: RE: Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default ACLs and create mask being ignored.> Maybe you should try the force create mode or similar > i had to put the mode to 666 cause 777 seems to hide > the files under samba. > > [Software] > comment = Software Share > path = /home/data/software > valid users = mattb > read only = No > create mask = 0666 > force create mode = 0666 > security mask = 0666 > directory mask = 0777 > force directory mode = 0777 > > /MattB > > -----Original Message----- > From: samba-admin@lists.samba.org[mailto:samba-admin@lists.samba.org]On> Behalf Of David Brodbeck > Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2001 2:11 PM > To: 'samba@samba.org' > Subject: Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default > ACLs and create mask being ignored. > > > One of our employees is having an odd problem with Adobe Photoshop.Files> he saves with Photoshop are saved with permissions 777, completelyignoring> both the create mask and the default ACL for the directory. Hi JW Just wondering what mask are you using to enforce -rw-rw-r--? thanks -----Original Message----- From: JW [mailto:wilson@claborn.net] Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2001 11:41 AM To: samba@lists.samba.org Subject: RE: Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default ACLs and create mask being ignored. I just thought I would confirm that I have had very similar problems with PhotoShop 5.5 and 6.0 I always thought it was just me - glad to see others are having this problem. It is indeed only Photoshop that has this problem. For me it is somewhat random - doesn't happen all the time. I have the mask set to force permissions that would normally look like the following: -rw-rw-r-- 1 jw users 14681 Jun 3 2001 txdexamp.tif But when it fouls up it actually ends up looking like the following: -------r-- 1 jw users 14681 Jun 3 2001 txdexamp.tif A fix to this would certainly be appreciated. Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default A CLs and create mask being ignored.
That'd be difficult, since most of the files we save with Photoshop are in generic formats like JPG. I'm considering reposting my original message to samba-technical. -----Original Message----- From: Joel Hammer [mailto:Joel@HammersHome.com] Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2001 1:40 PM To: Leonardo Rodrigues; samba@lists.samba.org Subject: Re: Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default ACLs and create mask being ignored. Well, this sounds like a hack but: Why not just run a script in the background on the samba server which checks, say every 5 seconds, for files with the adobe suffix and chmod's them to the correct values? This could get complicated. The find command will look for files with the wrong permissions and an exec option could fix the file. Note, I haven't tried this out!
