Samba + username with spaces_
How does samba handle NT usernames
that contains spaces. Also NT can
have long usernames while Linux can
only have 8-10 character long usernames.
Is there anyway you can map those long
usernames to Linux?
Thanks

Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default A CLs and create mask being ignored.
Sorry, that should be RedHat 7.0. (Not that it should matter.)

Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default ACLs and create mask being ignored.
One of our employees is having an odd problem with Adobe Photoshop. Files
he saves with Photoshop are saved with permissions 777, completely ignoring
both the create mask and the default ACL for the directory. Files he
creates with other programs have the correct permissions. This has me
stumped. It appears I can reproduce the problem at will.
Client is Windows NT 4.0 SP6a and Adobe Photoshop

Problem with winbind in Win2k domain
I've been trying to setup a Samba file server on our Win2k domain that
will use the users/groups from Win2k using Winbind.
I have been quite successful so far but have come up against a problem.
This is what I've done so far:
- Download 2.2.4, compiled and installed fine
- Setup winbind & added the server to the domain. All works
fine (I ca list users, groups etc)
- Setup samba

permissions to a share.
My samba server is member of a

authenticate with the NT server
using domain security.
Any answers would be appreciated.

mapping drives in win2k red X
I'm mapping drives in Wndows 2000 to a samba server and I am getting red Xs on the drives over time. It takes about three tries to break this. What is the fix for this on the w2k machines? It must be windows since it happens on some clients only. I am mapping the drives under different user names and passwords and this is where it seems to be a problem. The same occurs if I cange the

Samba 3.0 and LDAP
I was looking through my o'reilly book and according to it all of the ldap
inputs that would be in smb.conf are not supposed to be there in samba 3.0.
How do you specify which ldap server to use and whatnot?

Linking API derived data to my application's database
Hi guys,
Given a page that retrieves data from a 3rd party API, how would you
then go about associating additional info in the application''s
database with that record?
Specifically, the page displays info on a product, and I''d like to
store and display locally created reviews for that product.
To display the product I''m using a route of the form /product/

Win 2000 client thrashes network when printing to samba printer
Hello all,
To start off with, I will admit to being very much a samba newbie. Having
said that, I set out on Friday to set up what I thought to be a very simple
task. I wanted to share a HP inkjet printer off of an old laptop.
I spent quite a bit of time on it and finally friday evening, I was able to
get things working (I thought). Finally, test pages from all the clients

Callerid via PRI
When receiving multiple calling numbers via a PRI for a call setup, I
cannot find the ability to select between either first or last. Is
there a way to do this currently? If not, can anyone help me in getting
this to work? Here is the dump of the PRI in intensive debugging.
Please note that I want the first calling number, not the last. Any
help would be much appreciated. Below the PRI trace

Joystick support in Wine

I've been using my joystick in Windows apps under Wine with no problems so
far, but a program I tried recently doesn't recognize the stick. I noticed an

Just more Windows games............
Howdy,
I've been trying to get Dawn of Aces and Warbirds 3 to run in Wine. At the
moment, DoA's intro menu loads ok but when trying to get into the game
itself, it never gets past a blank screen. Most of the time I can't even get
to another console, have to restart X. But I just now got it to try without
going blank (it just exited instead of hanging).
I think the trouble

Configure file sharing for Samba...
Hello,
I'm setting a PDC/fileserver for my company. All the files are being hosted on the Samba PDC server. We have a single company directory that everyone in the company has full access to. Inside the shared company directory is a directory (among many others) that I would only like certain users to be able to view. I know this is possible but here's the problem:
As far as I know, for
