wine users - Oct 2011 - Direct 3d problem

I'm trying to run a game on wine that requires Direct3d. But whenever I run
the program, an error that says Could not initialize direct3d comes up. Any
ideas on how to fix it? this did not happen until I updated to Ubuntu 11.10.

If you upgraded your OS and this is now a new problem, its probably faulty
graphics drivers...
