"user head space error" is a problem, but I can see past this level of ... how do you say, never mind. anyhow* Your wine is VERY old. !!Yes, got one, and will compile once I work out how to... you can get a newer version at http://www.winehq.com/download.shtml you can also get the latest version of the source and documentation at http://www.winehq.com/download.shtml Wine-20020122.tar.gz and one of the following should do wine-doc-html.tar.gz wine-doc-txt.tar.gz wine-doc.pdf.gz wine-doc.ps.gz I recomend downloading the documentation and installing from source. Its really not too bad even for a newbie. Sometimes its best to go to the source. Tony Lambregts Tony, thank you for not intruding on my head space... wine --version Wine version 20020122> Can someone please advise where I am going wrong with this thing??A Wine config file doesn't mean anything by itself, only in relation to the *NIX system it describes for Wine to use.> > Thanking you in advance..I bet that is all the thanks I will get, too.> > Nicholas Tomlin.Lawson Probable user head space error. - Dennis A. Moore M. Lawson, thanks may come a little more freely of they weren't treated with such repudiation beforehand. Your efforts are valued as they may lead to a solution, however, would you pick up an echidna if you knew it was the answer to your itches, especially with those fearosme quills and spines??? Maybe you should tame your approach, then you could improve your sex life... Kindest regards, Nicholas Tomlin.

That is a /usr/share/games/fortune kind of quote from my collection of odd fortunes. If you knew Dennis A. Moore, you would know it is pronounced with affection rather than contempt. What I was trying to say is, if you want help with an error message, please, please, please quote the damn' thing exactly, and there is a pretty good chance some programmer can tell you in a dialect of Interneational English you can understand roughly what it means. I can't do anything with | The results of trying to run wine is usually that wine was not able to | find drive x, perhaps you have not configured your wine.conf file | properly or ... etc. | That doesn't tell me anything except that this version of wine is probably pretty old. It might even be older than some of the doco you are using. IIRC, about the time wine.conf became obsolete, the format of the Wine config file changed. You don't even have to retype it, just capture it in a file and include (the relevant part of) the file in your letter. wine <options> <program> 2>&1 | tee logfile> Nicholas Tomlin. >Lawson 'Tis better to have lived and laughed, than never to have lived at all.

Ill try to explain this as best as I can. There are various types of people on this news group. Some, like you, are users who are very new to wine. Most are also very new to *nix as well. They do things like using a non descriptive subject line, prefix reply to quote, supply too little useful information, etc.. Then there are people like me who have used wine for a while know how the system works and when they can will help out a person out. Finally there are people like Lawson who actually contributes to developing wine. Wine is still pre beta software and may or may not run your program. Wine needs people like you to give good bug reports. It needs people like Lawson even more. There are less then 100 people working on wine as far as I know. It it is rare to have the skills to do this and it makes me angry/upset when they are not appreciated. So now do you understand why I think you should say your sorry. Tony Lambregts
