wine-users digest, Vol 1 #1005 - 6 msgs
Hello all, Flame me if you must but I have a problem, I'm either too thick to work it out or the docs miss something vital to my machine. I have read through the docs and here is my problem.. I have installed wine from Mandrake 7.2 distribution - wine 20000909mdk1, but alas, it won't go. I have built a config file based on how to docs - refer below: [Drive C] "Path" =

Office XP? Windows XP dlls? mIRClocked up.
I've read through some archives on the users mailing list and found some answers to getting Wine 20020122 going. I didn't have to change much with the default way tools/wineinstall. Here's my questions 1) Does Wine run programs that live in a native Windows XP vfat partition using the native dlls? 2) Does Wine run Office XP, even if it is buggy? 3) Can it run programs such as

Some dsound oddness
I had noticed a few weeks ago that sound for me on Riven was now having problems. It used to be almost perfect, but now it was suddenly doing things like changing pitch and speed, losing sync with the video, and breaking up. Of course I initially suspected a regression, though no one else mentioned problems. I just now got around to spending a bit more time on it and found it was not a

Application Database RFC
I have done a lot of thinking about the Application Database http://appdb.codeweavers.com lately and how the rating system works. We currently have 848 Applications in there but only 58 with a 5 star rating which works out to less than 10% and thats the good news. The bad news is that of those 58 only 26 rate that without windows installed. After takeing a closer look, none of the apps I

Another ''found a bug'' problem - This time with user purging.
Ok, given the statement on the web page about unlesssystemuser under Resources ( http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/documentation/typedocs.html#resources), I assume that users can be purged. However, when I attempt to do this with resources { user: purge => true, noop => true } and what I get is: err: Found a bug: private method ''split'' called for nil:NilClass.

win3.1 in wine & suse8.1
I'm new to wine and suse 8.1. I d/l the most current wine version for suse8.1 = 200303.. and rpmed it. I was surprised that wine was not updated with Yast but only directly with rpm.-F ... Does anybody you know why? I had tried it first and it seemed to work but rpm -q showed the same date! I now have doubts on all the other rpm patches/updates ... The win3.1 program is special purpose

Raidz vdev size... again.
Hi, i''m new to the list so please bare with me. This isn''t an OpenSolaris related problem but i hope it''s still the right list to post to. I''m on the way to move a backup server to using zfs based storage, but i don''t want to spend too much drives to parity (the 16 drives are attached to a 3ware raid controller so i could also just use raid6 there). Still no luck on command line parse [Bug 417]
As suggested, I checked that I was getting wine of the right vintage, and as you see below, I indeed seem to have the version designated by the codeweavers rpm name I downloaded (codeweavers-wine-20011108-5.i386.rpm): [cafl@emma cafl]$ which wine /usr/bin/wine [cafl@emma cafl]$ /usr/bin/wine --version Wine release 20011108 Wine exited with a successful status [cafl@emma

Passive file server.
I am trying to get Samba running on RH Linux 9 to act as a file server and authenticate against the domain. I don't want it to be actively involved in Active Directory or be a domain controller. I do not have the ability to add a machine to AD. All I'm looking for is, when a user wants to access a share that the user is authenticated against the domain and if they are a valid user grant
