Lawson, thanks may come a little more freely of they weren't treated with such repudiation beforehand. Another ''found a bug'' problem - This time with user purging.
Ok, given the statement on the web page about unlesssystemuser under Resources ( http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/documentation/typedocs.html#resources), I assume that users can be purged. However, when I attempt to do this with resources { user: purge => true, noop => true } and what I get is: err: Found a bug: private method ''split'' called for nil:NilClass.

tidy dir recursive, but preserve itself
Hi all, I''d like to clean up a temp. directory (files and subdirs within), but even the directory should be preserved, e.g.: tidy { "/var/trash": age => ''1m'', recurse => true, type => atime, rmdirs => true } This does not only remove the content of /var/trash with an atime greater 1m, but also /var/trash . Undefined method `register'' for REXML::Encoding:Module
Has anyone seen the below error before? It appears to only occur when Puppet runs automatically (i.e. a "puppetd --test" doesn''t cause it). I have recently installed new Ruby rpms on the server and I''m guessing that I may have left out something when I built the RPMS (based on FC7 SRPM). > -----Original Message----- > From: report@melrhweb1.nmh-au

Problem with adding custom facts
Hi I''m trying to add extra facts to facter. The puppetd is running on Debian Etch Amd64 as Xen 3.1 guest. I''ve follow the Wiki on adding the facts. First I used relative path in the manifest and added "factsync=true" in client''s puppetd.conf. And then tested it with "puppetd -vt". But no matter what i tried, this error came: File paths must be fully

Usability concern with overrides
I''ve been tinkering around with managing users and am concerned with the overall administrative usability of the inheritance overrides. For instance, the user games: redhat_base: user { games: ensure => present } local_site inherits redhat_base: User[games] { ensure => absent } This is fine, but imagine a few levels of nesting later with an admin that wants to ensure that a
