Try these.... pretty straightforward http://www.wheely-bin.co.uk/cisco/ http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/788/voip/handset_to_sip.html http://www.loligo.com/asterisk/Cisco/79xx/current/ I did it from SCCP to SIP in a day. Hi, Progress report and question. The phone boots and gets a dhcp lease. /var/log/messages show DHCPREQUEST and DHCPACK for ip and mac address. On the phone, I manually selected Alternate TFTP server = yes The console on the phone shows that is has the correct ip info and tftp server address. In dhcpd.conf I have these two lines to designate the tftp server: next-server 10.1.200.250; filename "/2/P0S302000.bin" The tftp directory has the following: OS79XX.TXT dialplan.xml P0S30200.bin SIP00115C93B788.cnf - this is the mac address of the phone I am testing with. SIPDefault.cnf I still do not see download activity in /var/log/messages. Is something missing? [Asterisk-Users] re: Convert Cisco 7960 to sip
Is your DHCP server a Windows Box, a Linux Box or your router? I decided to kill my WRT54G router as my DHCP server as I had so many more config options by using either a Linux or Windows server (I ended up combining the Linux box as both the Asterisk Box, TFTP Box and DHCP box)....makes config much easier. Randy How much was the licence for the 7.1 (I'm currently on 6.1) and how did you get it (I've tried to get a service contract with Cisco but it's like swimming uphill through syrup and I've got 15 phones in total). hi, 7 put on the universal boot loader and it kept on rebooting itself :) cheers greg -----Original Message----- From: Randy Bush [mailto:randy@psg.com] Sent: Friday, 13 August 2004 12:51 AM To: Greg Smith Cc: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: Re: Convert Cisco 7960 to sip> you need to go: > v2 > v2.1 > v2.3 > v4.0 > v6.0i recently succeeded in 2, 2.3, 6, 7.1, and am happy with 7.1 on a number of units.> v7.0 doesnt work properly i have foundcould you be more specific? randy
I had this problem with 7.1 initially because there are two different filename schemes for 7.1. One is P003-07-1-00 which should be listed in the file OS79XX.TXT on the tftp server and also P0S3-07-1-00 which should be in SIPDefault.cnf on the tftp server as follows: image_version: P0S3-07-1-00 I had trouble with the Universal Application Loader rebooting endlessly because I had P003-07-1-00 listed in both OS79XX.TXT and SIPDefault.cnf. This behavior differs from versions of the SIP software prior to 7. Once I corrected SIPDefault.cnf to have P0S3-07-1-00 everything worked fine. As I recall, the sequence for loading the files is the following. First, P003-07-1-00.sbn is loaded into the phone as the SIP firmware. This provides the Universal Application Firmware. When the phone boots it then looks for P0S3-07-1-00.sb2 and P0S3-07-1-00.loads which actually loads the rest of the software for using the phone. I am not sure if the .sb2 or .loads file is loaded first although I do know that P0S3-07-1-00.loads is briefly mentioned in the startup messages on the phone itself.
