Help with upgrading 7960 SCCP to SIP
...I'm trying to convert to SIP. Here's what "Firmware Versions" says: App Load ID: P00305000300 Boot Load ID: PC03M030 Version: 5.0(3.0) The files that I have are: P003-07-1-00.sbn P003-07-1-00.bin P0S3-07-1-00.loads P0S3-07-1-00.sb2 If I put "P003-07-1-00" in OS79XX.TXT, the phone tries to tftp XMLDefault.cnf.xml. I've tried every imaginable <loadinformation> parameter, and can't get the phone to actually grab the image, it just keeps redownloading the XML file. If I put "P0S3-07-1-00" in OS79XX.TXT, the phone wants to download P0S...

7960 Not Picking up new firmware.
...p -thanks to much help from this list- the 7960 found it and updated to SIP the first firmware P0S30200. What I am now trying to do is upgrate through all the versions, as recommended, to the latest version, P003-07-3-00. I thought this would be accomplished by simply changing the sole line in the OS79XX.TXT file to P0S30203 and reboot the phone. But no success. Any pointers? Thanks Ferg

Cisco 7960G phone crashes during SIP upgrade
...with the factory default SCCP firmware on it. As we're using SIP on our network, the first things i've done was to upgrade but unfortunately the phone just restarted. By looking on the TFTP logs and tcpump output, i've seen that the phone crashed and restarted just after downloading the OS79XX.TXT file, without requesting the image file at any moment. If i'm putting a SCCP image file name (without ext.) on the OS79XX.TXT (begining with P003), the phone doesn't crash and request the respective SEP<mac>.xml file. Unfortunately (again), just after downloading the xml configur...

Hello All, I just picked up 10 new 7960G's and having a hardtime upgrading the firmware on them. We already have 30 or 40 of these phones in production. Typically when I get a new phone, I just plug it into the voice vlan and it auto grades to the firmware in OS79XX.txt. Now whats happening is im getting a weird error during the reading of that file. Here's the output from the TFTP logs. Cisco 7960 Beating a Dead Horse
Hi all, So I have been reading through the docs available online and the different threads on this list, but I cannot seem to get this phone to work. I have configured the OS79XX.TXT and SIP/SEP*.cnf files (see attached), when I configure the phone to point to my tftp server and reboot it I get this message: Connection received from 10.6.0.224 on port 50608 [09/02 12:16:11.750] Read request for file <OS79XX.TXT>. Cisco 7960 upgrades
...from 3.1 -> 5.3 -> 7.5, with no luck. It goes to Upgrading Software and sits there endlessly redownloading the same file. It seems to stall going no-where .. Any one successfully upgraded the phones from default? What are any of the specifics. With the 5x series do I need the P003-05 in the OS79XX.TXT file or still the P0S3 ? Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do? I can't seem to get the pre 5x versions of the software any more. Seems with my contract I can only downgrade to 5x series. All that shows on the Cisco CCO site. Please let me know Thanks Sascha ---------...

Cisco 7960 tftp question
Hello, and thank you for your time answering my question. I have a Cisco 7960 running SIP firmware POS3-06-X-XX. If I want to upload SIP configurations via *.cnf file from my tftp server, do I need to include the OS79XX.TXT and P0S3-06-X-XX.bin to the tftp server root directory to be uploaded every time the phone reboots? Thanks again for your help. Oliver

Hi all (is a bit of a Cisco question, but perhaps it's already been asked here). I'm trying to setup a TFTP server for dynamic configuration of my 7960 Cisco phones. Cisco 7960 + SIP
...#39;m sure that there are more people here using the Cisco 7960 w/ SIP, so I thought I'd post here. I've just bought a Cisco 7960 phone to use with Asterisk. It came with the CallManager image on it. I've got the 4.4 SIP images (P0S3-04-4-00). If I put "P0S3-04-4-00" in the OS79XX.TXT file, the phone downloads this fine (watching TFTP server debug). It then proceeds to request P0S3-04-.bin. I don't know why. Naturally this file isn't found. I tried renaming the file to P0S3-04-.bin. The phone then downloads around 80% before aborting. I hope somebody might be able...

Cisco 7960 Problem - Phone Unprovisioned

Now i get the message Phone unprovisioned and in TFTP-Log i find the following line: 07.03.2005 19:58 :Timeout error sending P0S3-07-3-00.bin to 192.168.0.83, 0 bytes So i think it now wants to load the file P0S3-07-3-00.bin. But i have not modified the OS79XX.TXT. Does anybody know, where i can get this file and what next steps to perform? Thanks a lot Thomas

I.e., in OS79XX.TXT place an intermediate SIP image and then in SIPDefault.cnf put the image you wish to ultimately upgrade to. cisco 7920 makes 7940 reboot
...40 upgraded to SIP7.4 with xmlDefault.cnf.XML getting delivered via tftp using the loadInformation8 parameter method taken from voip-info.org ("Configuring Cisco 79xx phones with Asterisk" page) - worked fine once I had all the capital letters in the right place ;-) This does not use the OS79XX.TXT file as far as I can understand. I can get the 7920 working with chan_sccp too, although the labels on the display don't come up. This just picks up its SEP(MAC).cnf.xml from tftp and boots fine too - nothing seems to be required in OS79XX.TXT as mine has POO3-07-4-00 in it, but I don'...
