Cisco 7960 + SIP
Hello all,
I know this isn't strictly Asterisk, but I'm sure that there are more people
here using the Cisco 7960 w/ SIP, so I thought I'd post here.
I've just bought a Cisco 7960 phone to use with Asterisk. It came with the
CallManager image on it.
I've got the 4.4 SIP images (P0S3-04-4-00).
If I put "P0S3-04-4-00" in the OS79XX.TXT file, the phone downloads this

Cisco 7940 [SIP], DTMF and Voicemail
Hi everyone,
I'd say this question has come up and been answered before but I haven't
been able to find it.
I have a Cisco 7940 that I've upgraded to SIP firmware (currently
P0S-3-06-3-00 - for some reason there was a failure when trying to
upgrade to V7 so I left it at V6).
The problem I'm having is that when I connect to voicemail the DTMF key
presses dont seem to work

Question about Cisco IP Phone 7960
I know this is a little off list but I can't think of a better place to
ask this question.
I upgrade the phone to 7.1 and it installed the Universal Application
Loader. Now I'm getting Protocol Application Invalid after it reads tftp
SIP(MAC).cnf
Any ideas?
Again sorry this is off topic

Cisco 7960 Problem - Phone Unprovisioned
Hi all,
i have a problem with some cisco 7960. Yesterday i did a
firmware-upgrade from 3.1 (1.2) with P0S30203.bin as described in the
most documents. Now i get the message Phone unprovisioned and in
TFTP-Log i find the following line:
07.03.2005 19:58 :Timeout error sending P0S3-07-3-00.bin to
192.168.0.83, 0 bytes
So i think it now wants to load the file P0S3-07-3-00.bin. But i have

Upgrade cisco SIP phone 7940
Hi All,
My current 7940 phones use P0S3-06-3-00. I'd like to upgrade them so
they're not massively out of date.
I found a page at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+phone+cisco+79xx
that gives some info, and using the cisco links there have tried to upgrade.
According to the procedures, I should be able to upgrade, but once the
phones loaded and reboots it says it downgrades

Here's a clip of comments lifted from a Cisco bug list. This will

Hello all,
I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself
out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the
hill' on this...
Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco

all on a separate LAN. There is

Cisco 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960 released
Hi All,
Just a heads up - I was looking around the Cisco FTP a little while
ago and noticed that the SIP 7.2 images for Cisco IP Phone 7940/7960
were released yesterday (16th August).
No new features - all bug fixes according to the release notes. I've
already started using it.
I thought those of you running the Cisco phones and the appropriate
access who didn't yet know would like to

Cisco 7960 tftp question
Hello, and thank you for your time answering my question.
I have a Cisco 7960 running SIP firmware POS3-06-X-XX. If I want to upload
SIP configurations via *.cnf file from my tftp server, do I need to
include the OS79XX.TXT and P0S3-06-X-XX.bin to the tftp server root
directory to be uploaded every time the phone reboots?
Thanks again for your help.

So I have been reading through the docs available online and the

I have configured the OS79XX.TXT and SIP/SEP*.cnf files (see attached),
when I configure the phone to point to my tftp server and reboot it I
get this message:

Cisco 7960G phone crashes during SIP upgrade
Hello,
I've recently received a Cisco 7960G phone with the factory default
SCCP firmware on it.
As we're using SIP on our network, the first things i've done was to
upgrade but unfortunately the phone just restarted. By looking on the
TFTP logs and tcpump output, i've seen that the phone crashed and
restarted just after downloading the OS79XX.TXT file, without
requesting the image

For now I will use only the Wildcard TDM400P card.
I am able to load the modules but I cant configure them using ztcfg or

Vlan question
There is a way to ensure traffic prioritisation...but it can work out a little expensive.
1. Use 3Com 4400 PWR as your switch.
2. Use 3Com NJ200/NJ220 (US) or NJ205/NJ225 (EU) POE Multiport switches
3. Use 3CNJVOIP-CPOD POE --> 7960 POE/Data splitters for power and data connections to the phone.
The 4400 Delivers Power to the NJ2xx switches, these switches have 4 ports which can be
