Upgrade 7960 from SCCP 3.0 to SIP 7.5
...used for the
specified protocol.
Firmware versions are P003F300 (Application Load ID) and PC030300 (Boot Load
ID).
In TFTP root directory, the following files are present:
OS79XX.TXT
P003-07-5-00.bin
P003-07-5-00.sbn
P0S3-07-5-00.bin
P0S3-07-5-00.sbn
P0S3-07-5-00.loads
SIP<MAC Addres>.cnf
SIPDefault.cnf
On boot, I can see in my TFTP logs the phone is served an OS79XX.TXT file
which now holds "P0S3-07-5-00" content.
>From TFTP logs, I can see my phone is then asking for "P0S3-07-.bin" file
which doesn't exist in my TFTP directory.
Next it asked for SEP<MAC Addres&...

7960 Not Picking up new firmware.
G'Day All.
So I got the TFTP server all set up -thanks to much help from this list-
the 7960 found it and updated to SIP the first firmware P0S30200. What I
am now trying to do is upgrate through all the versions, as recommended,
to the latest version, P003-07-3-00.
I thought this would be accomplished by simply changing the sole line in
the OS79XX.TXT file to P0S30203 and reboot the phone.

Need help registering Cisco 7960 Phones on Asterisk
Hi everyone,
I googled this followed the instructions, but it hasn't work for me yet.
I have universal setting in SIPDefault.cnf and phone specific settings in
SIPXXXXXXXXXX.cnf. But it doesn't get registered.
I need to register it on two different asterisk boxes. So my
SIPXXXXXXXXXX.cnf looks like this:
phone_label: "Zeeshan A Zakaria"
line1_name: "523"
line1_displayname: "Zeeshan A Zakar...

Cisco 7940 [SIP], DTMF and Voicemail
Hi everyone,
I'd say this question has come up and been answered before but I haven't
been able to find it.
I have a Cisco 7940 that I've upgraded to SIP firmware (currently
P0S-3-06-3-00 - for some reason there was a failure when trying to
upgrade to V7 so I left it at V6).
The problem I'm having is that when I connect to voicemail the DTMF key
presses dont seem to work

UK GMT/BST settings
Hi,
Anyone know what the settings in SIPDefault.cnf should be for Cisco 7940
phones this year?
Came in today to find they'd all moved one hour ahead (NTP server is
correct and ok). Found the "day" was set to "26", but on trying to
change the settings to the below, my test phone isn't changing back:

TFTP Server Facing the Internet
Since we're chatting about tftp servers...
Let's say I have a new customer with Cisco 79xx phones, and he desires
to SIP register on my Asterisk system. I would have to provide the
SIP<mac>.cnf and SIPDefault.cnf files on my tftp server for his phones.
These files would be world readable, which I don't want.
Is the solution to put the tftp server behind the firewall and port
redirect based on the customer's IP, or is there a better way of
restricting access?
Thanks,
Mike

Does anyone know how to use the DND feature oc Cisco 7940/7960
Hi all,
I have looked at cisco docs and it says DND is set by pressing the services
button and choosing DND. Does anyone know how to configure DND in the
services.xml file. I've googled around and not found anything.
When you enable it in SIPDefault.cnf it just allows you to use it once.
Many thanks for all your amazing work.

Cisco 7940, Voicemail & DTMF
Would anyone know why Voicemail in * doesn't get the DTML keypresses
from my Cisco 7940 running SIP (POS3-07-3-00) ? Is it something to do
with "dtmf_avt_payload: 101" setting in SIPDefault.cnf in the tftp server?
Thanks for any help!

Cisco 7960 upgrade from SKINNY load
...r
trace to see the error message.
(3) Possible solution (what did you expect):
Information in the documentation on how to do this.
(5) Workaround used currently (if applicable):
A simple procedure is.....
Download the SIP image P0S30203.bin and the rest of the files that
are needed
(OS79XX.txt/SIPDefault.cnf/SIPDefaultGeneric.cnf/ringer1.pcm/ringer2.pcm/dialplan.xml/RINGLIST.DAT)
Change OS79XX.TXT file to contain P0S30203
Power cycle the phone so that it will load the new image
Once the phone is loaded with P0S30203 you can then download SIP
image P0S3-04-3-00.bin into the TFTPBOOT directory and...

Where is the * servers IP defined for sip phones?
...; Line 1 ExtensionUser ID

line1_authname: "5010" ; Line 1 Registration Authentication
line1_password: "cisco" ; Line 1 Registration Password

The SIPDefault.cnf has the proxy addresses is that where it goes?
The sip.conf states that this host[phone] is dynamic but either way it
must "register" with the * server somehow. It is getting it's tftp
files from the * server so I know they are talking.

SIP: difference between Grandstream and Cisco when behind NAT
...it work properly with Asterisk,
even though in the Grandstream config I have "NAT traversal: no" and
leave "Use NAT IP" blank. All the clever stuff is done automatically
by Asterisk.
However, with the Cisco, that doesn't seem to be the case. I have found
it necessary in the SIPDefault.cnf file to set "nat_enable: 1" and
then specify as nat_address the public address of my router.
Is this normal? What is different between the Grandstream and the Cisco?
Is there any way to avoid having to program the external address into
the Cisco when it is behind NAT?
Thanks in adva...

Cisco 7960 + SIP
Hello all,
I know this isn't strictly Asterisk, but I'm sure that there are more people
here using the Cisco 7960 w/ SIP, so I thought I'd post here.
I've just bought a Cisco 7960 phone to use with Asterisk. It came with the
CallManager image on it.
I've got the 4.4 SIP images (P0S3-04-4-00).
If I put "P0S3-04-4-00" in the OS79XX.TXT file, the phone downloads this

7960 help
I have 4 7960's that I am trying to get working but 2 of them will not
update to the SIP image on my tftp server like the first ones did.
i keep getting the error on the phone 'Defaulting CM to TFTP server' like it
isn't seeing the *.bin on the server.
are you supposed to have on of those for each phone? would be like cisco et
al to do something like that.
TIA
