R help - Sep 2011 - seqinr-dist.alignment?

Hi everyone

I have got a quick question:

I the "seqinr" package:

*dist.alignment(x,"identity")*

This is calculating the square root of pairwise distances. Does anyone know
whether/how gaps are counted in this function?
