One of the cluster nodes (XS 5.6 SP2/not master) became unresponsive to XAPI calls being sent from a CloudStack management server. In the past, a simple xe-toolstack-restart would do the trick but the script timed out while restarting the XAPI daemon. I found the process and first tried to use a simple kill command but the process was in a "defunct" state. I tried a kill -9 but no joy. I then found the xapi.pid and manually deleted it and then tried to run xe-toolstack-restart. Unfortunately this did not work and ultimately I had to reboot the cluster node. So... any other ideas on killing a zombie XAPI process? I''ve like to avoid rebooting a host :) _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-users

Re: Any tips on dealing with a super hung XAPI process?
Hi Jason, I''ve no idea about this issue I''m afraid. This list is for users of the Open Source version of Xen rather than any particular commercial product. In general XenServer questions are best addressed to either your XenServer support rep or to the appropriate forum on forums.citrix.com. Thanks, Ian. Re: Any tips on dealing with a super hung XAPI process?
If a SIGKILL wont get rid of it, it''s probably stuck on a system call. Any clues in dmesg? Do the guests seem OK? Like Ian said, try here also http://forums.citrix.com/category.jspa?categoryID=101 On 6 June 2012 09:56, Ian Campbell <Ian.Campbell@citrix.com> wrote:> Hi Jason, > > I''ve no idea about this issue I''m afraid. > > This list is for users of the Open Source version of Xen rather than any > particular commercial product. > > In general XenServer questions are best addressed to either your > XenServer support rep or to the appropriate forum on forums.citrix.com. > > Thanks, > Ian. > > On Tue, 2012-06-05 at 01:03 +0100, Jason Davis wrote: > > One of the cluster nodes (XS 5.6 SP2/not master) became unresponsive > > to XAPI calls being sent from a CloudStack management server.
