Hi. We look to switch from XenServer, as it latest versions do not run on our eserver xSeries 336 server. Does the XCP 1.1 fully support this hardware? Also, any idea how well the Xen tools, such as XenCenter and Xen HW->VM tools supported in 1.1 release? I seen there is a feature called XAPI that makes the XCP look as fully-featured XenServer. Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

There is no use of trying either 1.0 or 1.1 versions of XCP? Thanks again. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Since you''re considering a move to XCP I suspect you''re not interested in purchasing a support contract from Citrix. If you''re instead asking if XCP will run on the hardware then the answer is probably yes, especially if you currently have XenServer 5.5 installed. As long as the hardware doesn''t include some strange hardware device that requires a driver that''s no longer available, supported, or that has some known issues then you should be fine. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

So 1.1 will run on our HW, even that it no longer supported by 5.6 and higher? Thanks again. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Just because it''s not on the HCL doesn''t mean 5.6+ or XCP won''t install and function, it just means that Citrix hasn''t tested it. You hardware is ~7 years old so it''s easy to understand why it could drop off of the HCL even though it might still work just fine. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

I guess the best way would be to install XCP 1.1 and see for ourselves. Only question - any difference in support between 1.0 and 1.1? Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Hi. If it doesn''t work with 5.6 SP2 then it won''t work with XCP 1.0 (based on> 5.6 SP1) or XCP 1.1 (based on 5.6 SP2). >Much appreciate your answers, guess we will stick with 5.5 for the time being.
