Hello all, does anybody of you have running this version of Ubuntu running as PV domU? I am trying to create domU with that OS using xen-tools from Debian Squeeze with special pygrub role script which installs Ubuntu kernel, creates initrd and grub config. ii xen-tools 4.2-1 Tools to manage Xen virtual servers I just realized that lucid rules are pointing to karmic lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 May 14 22:17 /usr/lib/xen-tools/lucid.d -> karmic.d and for example rule for removing hwclock from init is calling update-rc.d [1], but lucid is not using SysV-rc. server2:~# grep chroot /usr/lib/xen-tools/karmic.d/15-disable-hwclock chroot ${prefix} /usr/sbin/update-rc.d -f hwclock.sh remove So there are probably also other steps needed to add or modify to get it working. After the domU is created it ''hangs'' just after all filesystems are mounted. Does anybody of you successfully running this Ubuntu version as PV domU? Any help to get it running is appreciated. Hello Peter, I have 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 with 2.6.32-24-server kernel running beautifully on Debian Lenny (2.6.26-2-xen-amd64) / Xen 3.2-1 booting with pygrub. cheers, Jan On 20/05/11 22:32, Peter Viskup wrote:> Hello all, > does anybody of you have running this version of Ubuntu running as PV > domU? > I am trying to create domU with that OS using xen-tools from Debian > Squeeze with special pygrub role script which installs Ubuntu kernel, > creates initrd and grub config. > > ii xen-tools > 4.2-1 Tools to manage > Xen virtual servers > > I just realized that lucid rules are pointing to karmic > > lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 May 14 22:17 /usr/lib/xen-tools/lucid.d -> > karmic.d > > and for example rule for removing hwclock from init is calling > update-rc.d [1], but lucid is not using SysV-rc. > > server2:~# grep chroot /usr/lib/xen-tools/karmic.d/15-disable-hwclock > chroot ${prefix} /usr/sbin/update-rc.d -f hwclock.sh remove > > So there are probably also other steps needed to add or modify to get > it working. > > After the domU is created it ''hangs'' just after all filesystems are > mounted. > > Does anybody of you successfully running this Ubuntu version as PV domU? > Any help to get it running is appreciated. > > [1] - http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/lucid/man8/update-rc.d.8.html > > -- > Peter Viskup > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users >_______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Hi Peter,>> > Hello Jan, > > could you, please, tell me what procedure did you used to install it?I think I used some of the instructions on: http://www.agileweboperations.com/xen-debian-lenny-dom0-with-ubuntu-lucid-guest but also recall I had to do a few (little) things slightly differently. It''s been a while - so don''t recall the exact details (and now a copy of the LV suffices to create another instance). Hello Peter, Did you write up your findings yet? I am in the same position and would like to know how you got it working.
