[Xen-users] WinXp physical to virtual problem: stuck at "Booting from hard disk"
Dear xen users,
I''m trying to convert a physical WindowsXp pro machine into a Xen HVM
domU.
I used VMWare standalone converter 4 to create a vmdk disk and qemu to
convert such disk to a raw file disk.
Unfotunately I''m still unable to run my converted domU:
when i start the VM the virtual disk is correctly detected (also the
dimension is detected),
but the VM freeze on the "Booting from hard disk..." sentence.
I first tried this configuration file:
----------
import os, re
device_model = ''/usr/lib64/xen-3.2-1/bin/qemu-dm''
vcpus = 1
acpi = 1
pae = 1
apic = 1
kenel = ''/usr/lib/xen-3.2-1/boot/hvmloader''
builder = ''hvm''
memory = 1024
name = ''Converted''
#vif = [ ''type=ioemu, bridge=eth0, mac=08:00:27:DF:C5:5B'' ]
disk = [
        #''phy:/dev/loop0,ioemu:hda,w''
''file:/var/backups/VMs/conversion/rbifulco.uniplan.software/rbifulco.uniplan.software.img,ioemu:hda,w''
#       ,''file:/root/Windows.iso,ioemu:hdc:cdrom,r''
#       ,''file:/root/pwdrecover.iso,ioemu:hdc:cdrom,r''
]
boot = ''c''
vnc = 1
usb = 1
usbdevice="tablet"
---------
I tried also next actions:
1. changed the HAL.dll with halaacpi.dll on the virtual machine''s disk
2. changed the HAL.dll with hal.dll on the virtual machine''s disk,
setting
acpi=0 and apic=0
3. turn on and off pae.
The orginal system uses a sata disk and a dual core Intel processor
I also tried to run the MergeIDE utility on the system before the
conversion, but nothing changed.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
