Isolinux question: booting multiple ISOs from one CD
Hi everyone. I need a hint. I have a running pxelinux system with a lot of submenues in production usage. Nearly the same structure I have in production usage from USB-sticks (syslinux and memdisk). No I want to have the same structure also bootable form a CD. Unfotunally my main applications are only available as .iso -files. no chance to get them bootable with eg vmlinuz. The iso contains

Samba permission problem
...force group = group1 Access rights for shareName are : rwxrwxr-x. There's a subdir of shareName whose access rights are: rwxrwx--- I'd like that no one not belonging to group1 could access to this subdir. Unfotunately, accessing from a win xp client, users belonging to group2 could visit and listing the subdir. Surprisingly, this doesn't occurs if I modify the subdir's access rights so that they become: rwx---r-x. It seems like group access specification were swapped with others access ones, but I can&...

Remove dead server from domain.
Hiya, I have an S4 domain running that I added another S4 machine to as an extra domain controller. That machine, unfotunately died (quite spectacularly I must say, think magic blue smoke). I would like to remove the dead domain controller from the domain. In ADUC I can see the DC under 'Domain Controllers' but when I try to delete it (having ticked the 'permanently offline' box) I get the following er...

slightly less random random macs
Hello all, There''s been many posts lately about problems that stem from either duplicate macs, non static macs and other networking issues that would be averted if a mac was specified upon vm creation. I''ve been using this little function I wrote in my shell scripts that setup dom-u''s from a csv file and its worked rather well, lets you control the prefix and

online service to host/share theora&vorbis encoded ogg files
...video and audio content created for the project as copyleft and free/open source. that's why i am looking for a service that won't conflict with the idea of copyleft and open source. i need a service to host for download and share big theora and vorbis encoded ogg files without time limit. unfotunately vimeo doesn't support theora. archive org accepts theora but converts it to mpeg2 for download. rapidshare, yousendit etc all have time and file size limitations. wikimedia doesn't work for me either. i found a service called wikiupload.com but it doesn't seem a trustable service. sh...

WinXp physical to virtual problem: stuck at "Booting from hard disk"
Dear xen users, I''m trying to convert a physical WindowsXp pro machine into a Xen HVM domU. I used VMWare standalone converter 4 to create a vmdk disk and qemu to convert such disk to a raw file disk. Unfotunately I''m still unable to run my converted domU: when i start the VM the virtual disk is correctly detected (also the dimension is detected), but the VM freeze on the "Booting from hard disk..." sentence. I first tried this configuration file: ---------- import os, re device_model = &...

SAMBA 4 DC and Smartcard authentication
...name at domain. - the certificate name is set to 'FULL USER NAME:userid' instead of just plain 'FULL USER NAME'. Which isnt a problem, because I set the userPrincipalName accordinly, as well as set the DN to 'FULL USER NAME:userid' for those using the second type of token. Unfotunately, for some reason I'm getting 'no matching principals' for the other user. When I got this exact error before, it was caused by a mismatch of the certificate's name when compared with the user entry's DN. But they match ('FULL USER NAME:userid'). Only difference in logs...

How to clean up this code?
...d are saved to public/images folder. I change names of the uploaded images to: product.id + ''-'' + number of the field from which the file was uploaded so i.e. adding an image in the 4th field to the product with id 12 will create the image with name ''12-4.jpg''. Unfotunately this leads to the problem with adding images during editing the product. While editing the product user can delete any of images that belongs to that product and add new ones, but i''ve got problems with naming files added this way. As i''m ror newbie, the code starts to become...

USB ports on Lenovo T400 do not work after a suspend/resume
Hi, FreeBSD-9 works fine on this Lenovo T400 - except that suspending with no USB devices plugged in result in no ports working after resume. If I have a device plugged in during suspend - on any port - then all the ports work fine after resume. I've attached usbconfig and acpidump output. here's what is logged in the kernel buffer during suspend and resume: Her'es the suspend:

[Weft QDA users] Weft on Ubuntu -- Ctrl-shortcuts NOT working?
Hi -- have just followed Christophe''s notes to get Weft QDA up and running on my IBM Thinkpad T20 w/Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake). Am just going thru the manual and trying various things, as I''m new to qualitative analysis AND new to QDA tools. Anyway, one thing I''ve found is that many (and maybe ALL?) of the CTRL-shortcuts mentioned in the documentation are not working

httx, iiimf, and Japanese input still not working
Japanese input - the final frontier. This is the last obstacle before I can work completely within Centos and be free of Windows. But it's still not working. To cut to the chase, in my quest to get Japanese working, I came across the following: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-i18n-list/2004-November/msg00030.html ... where someone says: "You need to have httx (htt_xbe) running

FCGI hanging w/ lighttpd and RoR 1.0 (need to kill -9)
Hi, everyone, I''m currently running a Rails 1.0 project using lighttpd-1.4.9 behind Apache 2 on RHEL 3. My fcgi process (I''m only using one right now) always hangs after some time, which is something I haven''t experienced before (e.g., I''ve run this same app. on a TextDrive account and it works fine there). So ... any ideas on what could be causing this?

Group Members and usersidlist problem
I have been setting up samba 3.0.20b on Solaris 9 with a Sun Java System Directory Server v5.2 and have hit a couple of problems. The first is that if I run the command /net rpc group MEMBERS Staff -U administrator after prompting for the password it just gives the result of a blank line. Looking through the ldap logs it appears that samba finds the correct group mapping but then looks up the

Puppetting the puppetmaster problems
Hi, installing puppet at my first site was quite easy (not w/o problems, but still). At the second site, I''ve run into something more serious. First things first - I install puppetmaster on existing server, used to keep LDAP db (my puppetmaster DOES NOT use LDAP, it just tries to coexist on the same machine). The thing is, I need to puppet this baby, so I''m running into a
