Uh oh, don''t tell me you loaded one of their weekly experimentals on your production cloud? If you reinstall from the CD image, it should detect that you have the same version on the machine already and offer to wipe and reinstall or let you go back to the previous archived version. The official 0.5.0 release works fine for me on a USB key using unetbootin to make it. I havn''t messed with any of the weekly experimental snapshots so I can''t speak for those. I''ve upgrade my pools via USB key boot since 0.1.0->0.1.1. No secret that I know of. Fire unetbootin up, select to install from ISO/image (can''t remember which it says, I can''t check until tomorrow), select the device that your USB key is on at the bottom, and then do it. When you boot from the key and get the unetbootin menu, select install and it should be off and running. I''ll build a new 0.5.0 key tomorrow when I''m back in the office and verify it works. It''s entirely possible they mucked around with something in the experimentals and broke it. There are other ways to build a bootable USB key from a Linux ISO but they''re mostly a lot harder and a lot more iffy than unetbootin. The license expiry problem is a known issue with the recent unstable snapshots. It''s possible to get around it by stopping xapi, then editing the file ''/var/xapi/state.db'' - search for ''expiry'' and replace the date with a much later one. When you next start xapi, it''ll cap the expiry date to the current day + 30 days so you''ll have to do this again then if you don''t want to upgrade to the next snapshot we''ll be posting, in which this behaviour is fixed. Hope this helps, Jon Vern Burke wrote:> I''ll build a new 0.5.0 key tomorrow when I''m back in the office and > verify it works. true, though even if it was an internal developer only box... we learned :) LOL never rack a box with no cd in it :) On Mon, Oct 4, 2010 at 1:52 PM, Jonathan Ludlam < jonathan.ludlam@eu.citrix.com> wrote:> Ouch. I''m following the XCP proposal here: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Tunnelling I have two XCP hosts So, I can create a tunnel on one host xe network-create name-label=''test crosshost private network'' xe pif-list network-name-label=Pool-wide\ network\ associated\ with\ eth0 xe tunnel-create pif-uuid=683232ad-d2ba-33bc-812f-3bf0e1bd8721 network-uuid=f3f59c0c-bbb7-d41b-bb9e-f9140e2bae96 I can do the same on the other host. How do I now hook up the two tunnels? xe tunnel-param-add uuid= ????? Thanks! -- CV _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Hi CV, The GRE tunnels require an openvswitch controller - do you have access to one? I believe the open-source ''nox'' doesn''t have the required functionality yet. Unfortunately in the current design, xapi doesn''t have the abilities to configure the vswitches, and relies on the controller - so this particular feature is really only there to enable a controller to set up these tunnels, rather than a complete implementation. If you just want to set up the tunnels manually, you can do so using the ovs commands on the hosts - the documentation is not great unfortunately, but as I understand, the ovs mailing list is a good source of info. OK, something like this works (xapi1 is a host-only network created by xe network-create) HOST1=192.168.152.22 HOST2=192.168.152.23 intf=$(ovs-vsctl create interface name=gre0 type=gre options:remote_ip=${HOST2}) port=$(ovs-vsctl create port name=gre0 interfaces=[${intf}] ) ovs-vsctl add bridge xapi1 ports ${port} ifconfig xapi1 10.1.1.2/24 #repeat on HOST2 ifconfig xapi1 10.1.1.3/24 ping 10.1.1.2 ----- Original Message ---- From: Jonathan Ludlam <Jonathan.Ludlam@eu.citrix.com> To: C V <rayvittal-lists@yahoo.com> Cc: Xen List <xen-users@lists.xensource.com>; "xen-api@lists.xensource.com" <xen-api@lists.xensource.com> Sent: Wed, October 6, 2010 2:02:20 AM Subject: Re: [Xen-users] openvswitch gre tunnel Hi CV, The GRE tunnels require an openvswitch controller - do you have access to one?
