[Xen-users] Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
Hi, recently Ive installed Windows 2008 x64 HVM domain on Xen 4.0. On xen wiki is info: Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers, included in XCP (Xen Cloud Platform). Xen Cloud Platform: So I installed them on Windows 2008 x64 domain and its not able to boot anymore: File: \windows\system32\Drivers\xevtchn.sys Status: 0xc0000428 Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file Can anybody explain me whats the status of Citrix drivers usage on Xen 4.0? I tried Citrix drivers and was really dissapointed about their performance. Plus did not manage to install them without Disable Signature Enforcement boot selection. Hi, little progress in XCP windows drivers. XCP Win PV drivers installed in despite of unknown driver publisher sucessfully to Windows 2008 SP1 x86 HVM domU. Disk and network i/o raised dramaticaly. Still remains 2 unrecognised PV devices: - XEN\console - XEN\vfg Does it means that XCP Win PV drivers are x86 only not usable for x64 domU? Re: [Xen-users] Re: Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
Hi, just tried XCP 0.5 rc Win PV drivers on Xen 4.0 x64 2.6.31 PV_OPS kernel. Installation of XCP PV drivers in domU Windows 2008 x64 drivers went ok, no warning about driver signing. Unfortunately after reboot domU is stuck showing progressbar on black screen. Booting into safe mode works ok. Are new XCP drivers compatible with Xen 4.0 or do we have to move to Xen 4.0.1? Re: [Xen-users] Re: Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
Hello, I''m also trying to use Citrix PV drivers for Windows (from XCP 0.1.1 and 0.5 RC3) instead of GPLPV drivers. I have both Xen 4.0.0/kernel 2.6.32.11 and Xen 4.0.1 (latest RC) with kernel 2.6.32.15. VM''s are Win2003, Win2008R2_x64 and Win7x64. The only semi-working setup is Win2003Server on Xen 4.0.1 with Citrix PV driver from XCP 0.1.1. After driver installation I see working PV DISK and PV Ethernet devices, two other devices (XEN\console and XEN\vfb) are unrecognized. Other combinations: * Xen 4.0.[0-1]/PV driver 0.5/Win2008 - unable to boot, stop on progress bar * Xen 4.0.[0-1]/PV driver 0.1.1/Win2008 - boot only into safe mode * Xen 4.0.[0-1]/PV driver 0.5/Win2003 - unable to boot, stop on boot screen * Xen 4.0.[0-1]/PV driver 0.5/Win7 - unable to boot, stop on boot screen * Xen 4.0.[0-1]/PV driver 0.1.1/Win7 - \Windows\System32\DRIVERS\xevtchn.sys error at the beginning of boot process Win2008 + PV driver 0.5 install and boot log is attached. I believe the 0.1.1 drivers aren''t fully signed, which is probably while you''re having problems with them on 2008R2/7 x64. Have you tried enabling testsigning mode in the OS? bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON -Dustin On Wed, Jul 7, 2010 at 9:19 AM, benco <benco@acid.sk> wrote:> Hello, > > I''m also trying to use Citrix PV drivers for Windows (from XCP 0.1.1 and > 0.5 RC3) instead of GPLPV drivers. No, I don''t like testsigning - this is the main reason why I want to use Citrix driver. GPLPV driver works fine for me and if there would be a way to use it without testsigning on, I would be happy with it. RE: [Xen-users] Re: Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
Hi, The XCP 0.1.1 drivers weren't properly signed but the XCP 0.5 ones should be. If you have a spare host then it might be worth trying: XCP-0.5 host + XCP-0.5 drivers + Win2k8 If that works then it suggests some important difference between the xen 3.4.2 in XCP and xen 4.0 -- which would be worth knowing about. AW: [Xen-users] Re: Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
Hello I have done some new tests: - XEN 4.0.1 (self compiled, "make world") + 2.6.32.21 from Jeremy - Windows 2008 R2 64Bit with windows PV drivers from XCP 0.5 and the regedit change from here: http://xenbits.xen.org/xen-4.0-testing.hg?rev/be9b8be3c648 Same error: ... XENUTIL: WARNING: CloseFrontend: timed out in XenbusWaitForBackendStateChange: /local/domain/0/backend/vfb/9/0 in state INITIALISING; retry. XENUTIL: WARNING: CloseFrontend: timed out in XenbusWaitForBackendStateChange: /local/domain/0/backend/vfb/9/0 in state INITIALISING; retry. XENUTIL: WARNING: CloseFrontend: timed out in XenbusWaitForBackendStateChange: /local/domain/0/backend/vfb/9/0 in state INITIALISING; retry. XENUTIL: WARNING: CloseFrontend: timed out in XenbusWaitForBackendStateChange: /local/domain/0/backend/vfb/9/0 in state INITIALISING; retry. ... I can not download XCP 0.1.1 to test the windows PV drivers from it, because it is not downloadable anymore. But I have read here in the lists, that the XCP 0.1.1 drivers are not fully signed. So the feature "Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers, included in XCP (Xen Cloud Platform). Xen Cloud Platform: http://www.xen.org/products/cloudxen.html" is not really working... :( Best regards Gio ________________________________ Von: Pasi Kärkkäinen <pasik@iki.fi> An: Keith Coleman <list.keith@scaltro.com> CC: Dave Scott <Dave.Scott@eu.citrix.com>; benco <benco@acid.sk>; Xen List <xen-users@lists.xensource.com>; Mark Adams <mark@campbell-lange.net> Gesendet: Freitag, den 3. RE: [Xen-devel] Re: [Xen-users] Re: Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
The problem is that your tools are creating a /local/domain/vfb/0 node in xenstore. The PV drivers try to gracefully close down the backend for this using the same fe closing -> be closing -> fe closed -> be closed state dance that it uses for vifs and this is not working. Since these is actually no fe driver for vfb, I suggest you just make sure this node does not exist. The PV drivers try to gracefully close down the backend for this using the same fe closing -> be closing -> fe closed -> be closed state dance that it uses for vifs and this is not working. Since these is actually no fe driver for vfb, I suggest you just make sure this node does not exist. RE: AW: [Xen-devel] Re: [Xen-users] Re: Xen 4.0 - Support for Citrix WHQL-certified Windows PV drivers
Presumably the tools are creating a /local/domain/3/console/0 entry if you don’t specify VNC; it’s another example of the same issue you saw before. The Citrix PV drivers are not routinely tested on xen-unstable; you need to tweak your tools to give them the environment they expect (which is that the only thing under /local/domain/XXX/device are vbd and vif nodes).
