[Xen-users] Win2k8 64bit PV drivers / production state?
Dear all, i''m mainly from the *ux world so i''m not very familiar with the current Microsoft world - but we are working with xen over many years in a *ix and purely open source environment. Currently we has a discussion with a user who is planning to move some Win 2k3 servers to 2k8 (eventually virtualized). So just btw: What is the current state of Win2k8 64 bit (paravirtualized / PV drivers) under XEN? Is it ready for small (LAN) production environments? What experiences are there with Win2k8 64 bit on Xen (PV and/or HVM) related to questions like: - performance - stability i.e. comparing with current vmware or other solutions (which do full virtualization only)? Is XCP a recommended point to start from with Win2k8 or would your prefer to use xen 3.x or 4? Many thanks in advance and Best regards, Niels. --- Niels Dettenbach http://www.syndicat.com _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

RE: [Xen-users] Win2k8 64bit PV drivers / production state?
Hi Niels, Xen 4.0 has added support for the XCP Windows PV drivers and also works with the GPLPV drivers. Both driver sets are pretty good and you just use whichever works best for you. Also, I think timer_mode=2 and viridian=1 in your HVM config file will help.
