I anticipate that he will give some dates as to when we can expect Xen 4.0 in XCP. In the meantime, I will watch the boards like you to see if Jonathan or Dave Scott post any new information. Hi, I think the current code in the repos is pretty stable so it would probably make sense to create a ‘stable’ branch soon. Next in the ‘unstable’ branch we could start doing the fun stuff like Xen 4.0 ☺ As a first step I think Vincent sent an email (to xen-devel IIRC) with URLs to repos where he’s made at least some of the code compile with xen-unstable. I think we could take those patches and build upon them. I’d also like to regularly update the binary snapshot so it’s easier to install the latest, greatest ‘bleeding-edge’ version ☺ Cheers, Dave From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of Grant McWilliams Sent: 13 April 2010 18:55 To: Stephen Spector Cc: Outback Dingo; xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] XCP releases On Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 8:20 AM, Stephen Spector <stephen.spector@citrix.com<mailto:stephen.spector@citrix.com>> wrote: That includes Xen 4.0? :-) TEAM: I believe that XCP will be moving to Xen 4.0 shortly; at Xen Summit in two weeks Jonathan Ludlam will be presenting the roadmap and plan for XCP moving forward. be nice if upgrades worked also without having to use an install CD, though im sure its someplace in the wishlist On Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 5:10 PM, Dave Scott <Dave.Scott@eu.citrix.com>wrote:> Hi, > > > > I think the current code in the repos is pretty stable so it would probably > make sense to create a ‘stable’ branch soon. > > > > Next in the ‘unstable’ branch we could start doing the fun stuff like Xen > 4.0 J As a first step I think Vincent sent an email (to xen-devel IIRC) > with URLs to repos where he’s made at least some of the code compile with > xen-unstable. Personally I usually use PXE + an answerfile to automate the upgrade process but I agree it''s not as convenient as it could be. One possibility is to make a VM appliance with a PXE server in it: download the new .iso, attach it to the appliance, set your (other!) host to PXE boot and then go. It''s not much good if you only have one host though :) Cheers, Dave From: Outback Dingo [mailto:outbackdingo@gmail.com] Sent: 13 April 2010 22:50 To: Dave Scott Cc: Grant McWilliams; Stephen Spector; xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: Re: [Xen-users] XCP releases be nice if upgrades worked also without having to use an install CD, though im sure its someplace in the wishlist On Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 5:10 PM, Dave Scott <Dave.Scott@eu.citrix.com<mailto:Dave.Scott@eu.citrix.com>> wrote: Hi, I think the current code in the repos is pretty stable so it would probably make sense to create a ''stable'' branch soon.
