Hello All, I am new to Xen and new to this mailer list. I followed instructions from here - http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu-8.04-server-install-xen-from-ubuntu-repositoriesin order to install Xen . The installation went fine but however, I am unable to startup xend. The initial message I got when I tried starting it was , *grep: /proc/xen/capabilities: No such file or directory* and after I commented this line in /etc/init.d/xend, I get the error : I did a googles search as well and several people have come across this .I tried changing the /etc/fstab but nothing seems to change. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Hi Lorenzo/Stefan/All, Thanks for your help so far. Well i compiled the kernel this time around and I am able to boot this kernel .However, Kubuntu doesn''t come up , neither does any sort of GUI which I was expecting . I get this error "XEN is Relinquishing VGA console " . I am able to go to tty mode using Alt+Ctrl+F1 /F2 etc but if I press Alt +F7 it shows SCA and a blank screen. Searched in the xen-users archives but the suggestions didn''t seem to work . Following are the main options in /boot/grub/menu.lst : title Xen 3.2.0 / Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.18.8-xen root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/xen-3.2.0.gz module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18.8-xen root=UUID=ea33bc28-e4f5-49d7-9699-078 a1bf9b69b ro console=tty0 module /boot/initrd.img-2.6.18.8-xen quiet Also tried setting * # xenkopt=console=tty0* to # *xenkopt=console=vga(keep)* and updating grub for a different line in module . Also tried changing the vga option # xenhopt=dom0_mem=512M noirqdebug vga=775 # xenkopt=max_loop=64 console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8 and # xenhopt=dom0_mem=512M noirqdebug vga=1024*768*16 and updating the grub each time but on booting it doesn''t work . Can you please help me on this ?
